We tried twice in a row to get what we need via national elections and got shut out both times. Don't bother worrying about national anymore, especially with the USA starting to strain apart at the seams, focus on local and state along with direct action and protesting.

the funniest bit has been watching Biden do exactly what the left has been telling the scolding libs he would do, to the point that they're out of anything specific they can point to as evidence he may be any different than the last couple years of Obama

"Don't vote for Biden, vote for the people he'll surround himself with" became him hiring all the ghouls and monsters we said he would

"But the working groups with Bernie people!" became them just being a charade that changed nothing and was just the campaign dictating messaging to their left just like under Obama, like we said

And every day there's a new example of the type of thing where Biden says nothing will change, doesn't give a poo poo about young people, and while he thinks changes need to be made he intends to make no law changing them. They should be more honest with themselves about their situation, there would be more dignity in it.

This is a good point. Everything about Biden's campaign rings so hollow, for lack of a better way to explain it. You'd think that a campaign against the worst president of our generation would be full of big ideas and inspiring messages (not just feelgood platitudes), but Biden and his handlers lack so much genuineness. It feels like an exercise in cynicism because it is; they know that no matter what they do or say, people will come out in droves to vote against Trump, so they're not putting any effort or earnestness into their activities. It's just the same old, same old VBNMW and "promise voters things that you don't intend to deliver on" dance that Democrats always do.

Klobuchar would be the funniest pick for sure. I'd love to watch her shake so intensely that she begins to lose hull integrity during the VP debate

I want to hear the behind the scenes horror stories about staplers and binders and all manner of office equipment being hurled at staffers

I would lose my mind with joy if all this time to pick the VP has been to run out the clock on the public outrage over klobs connection to chauvin.

they absolutely put effort into ensuring the most conservative shift possible, especially with their toadies out there going how this is the most electable level of progress acceptable.

if his campaign somehow wins, it can underdeliver as much as obama did, but it promised less. great! if they lose, it's because they didn't turn the racism dial far enough.

Warren is poo poo but she's better than anyone Joe is actually likely to pick (see: Klob, Whitmer, Harris)

like, she did some serious bullshit during the primary, more than anyone else other than perhaps Obama himself, but I still don't really get why Harris would be preferable to her

After she walked back m4a I wrote her off as a garbage, opportunistic fake progressive (I'd already kinda held that view, but gave it a "reset" when the primary started in the interest of trying to stay at least somewhat open minded. I figured it can't hurt, if I'm wrong she'll just show her true colors again and whelp.)

My hold out on going full anti-Joe has been that for some vulnerable people that Trump is actively loving, there would be some immediate relief, SCOTUS pick, etc. (All the usual generic reasons.) But a Warren VP > POTUS admin when Biden dies and the GOP gets one or both chambers of congress back and just completely chokes out is not something that I think is worth it just for the sake of having a token-progressive-in-name-only on the ticket.

Plus, I don't think the polls we're seeing with Biden up by so much are accurate. They'll tighten up as we get closer to November, wayward GOP voters will find their way home to come out and pull the lever for Trump. And Warren will have a similar effect as Hillary on electrifying the GOP base. Bernie's strength came from his authenticity and track record, you couldn't shame him about being a socialist. Like that Fox town hall he did, Warren would *never* be able to pull something like that off. Kinda like how Trump can't be shamed, he doesn't care. That's not the case with Warren, when she inevitably gets attacked about generic boogeyman "socialism" she's going to try and respond as a capitalist, which will open the scope of the argument up and she'll flail, gaffe, and ultimately look like an idiot who couldn't even win her own state.

Harris seems less likely a pick to me just because she was, as I understand it, part of the general Hillary faction within the party, with Biden as part of the general Obama faction. That may or may not be relevant any more though and she's certainly the obvious choice.

Whichever of Klobb/Kamala doesn't get the VP nod will probably get AG.

e. VP probably won't be an out-and-out Republican, though if anyone would do it it'd be Biden, but at least one major cabinet position will be, and that'll probably be Kasich.

imho, if it's not Harris it means that the party is aligning on the assumption that Jill Biden will be a serious power broker or access manager, which seems likely enough that it's one of the big reasons I don't think it's Harris

whoever wins this year is going to lose everything in 2022, it's locked in. Nothing is going to get better and neither party has any intention or ability to improve things for people. They already consider COVID defeated because the markets are still strong, and after the election the focus of Trump or Biden will be to roll out the deeply unpopular pay-fors as people are still dying by the thousands after a hotly contested election nobody truly believes is legitimate.

There's no future or hope that can come for this nation from the Federal level if you aren't already so rich you don't need government, and states can't print their own money and are being starved to force austerity in a bipartisan effort so no hope will come from there either. Just write it off, vote third party or for socialists if you vote at all, and work locally to establish parallel power and influence structures
