Do we think there's a level of opt outs that would make the NFL cancel the season? I assume not, but I'm not sure I'd want to pay for a season of UDFAs. Although actually the XFL was pretty fun.

It would be a pretty dumb year to try and tank with the risk of the season being cancelled early. The earlier you get cancelled the more your pick would be dependent on tiebreakers outside of your control because loads of teams are going to have the same record. Like if you get cancelled week 3 you're going to get your pick decided on strength of schedule against 5-10 other teams with the same record. Then there's also the possibility that the NFL would step in and decide that a short season wasn't representative, and ends up making the 2021 draft semi-random like they choose for the supplemental draft.

So yeah I'm already pretty much expecting nothing out of this season even if it does somehow start on time and continue. With this many players already opting out and more likely to opt out over the next month it's going to be an asterisk season.

No, not anymore- they divide teams up into three tiers(playoff, 5 or less wins, everyone else) and then do a drawing with weighted odds based on record to figure out who has the order within the tier. So like if they ran one based off of last years results, all 8 of the losers would technically have a chance to be #1, but the Bengals would have more pingpong balls in the hopper than the others for example.
