Yeah, after looking into it for a while, I realized how overpriced lobi is. I have about 180 mil left over from starting to sell a ton of farmed omega particles right before I quit (and now I'm left with 1,000s of account bound particles lol). After looking at recommended consoles and traits I realized I could by many for 9-17 million, where lobi is apparently about 5 per box. So to buy one 200 lobi item I would have to spend 280 million on keys (at 7 million a piece).

Additionally, it runs for almost a month simultaneously for PC and console (PS4/XB1) and participating in any Risa activities will grant progress towards the Risian Weather Control Vessel [T6] unlock, and besides cosmetic stuff and a pet/a tribble there's also two new Risian Universal Kit Modules and a Universal Kit Frame which boosts weapon damage based on how many Risian kit modules you have equipped, along with "a chance to cause the effects of any Risian Kit Module whenever you activate any other Risian Kit Module – even kit modules you can’t or don’t have equipped!"

As for the Risian Weather Control Vessel [T6]… courtesy of r/sto's Discord I understand that it's a science vessel in both ship gear and seat layouts:

The Exotic Particle Generators set is now a 3-piece thanks to the event ship's new Eddy Generator console (anecdotally I'm told that the new set bonus is that "Party Mode (Risa 3-piece) gives recharge speed to Pilot abilities and Rock & Roll, and makes Rock & Roll launch fireworks"):

And its new Starship Trait:

Thanks for that. It looks like a pretty big upgrade from what I'd been driving around, though it's going to take me a bit to build up a new set of gear and retrain my boffs since I'm going from cannons and turrets to beamboat. How can I get an invite back to the fleet? I'm still in a channel from ages ago, TheNextGooneration I think. Is there a better way to contact folks? I'm logging out for now, but I'll probably be back on in 2-3 hours.

Nah, it's only mostly dead.

In all seriousness, Starfleet Dental and Nerds of Prey still exist as fleets, and there are a few people who still log on daily. There's not much chatting in the channel, but it's kind of a dead time right now. There hasn't been a new content drop in weeks, and other than the Borg red alert, there's not much to do until the summer event starts next week.

It's the Party Daemosh.

In the spirit of being helpful, you REALLY want a commander + lt. commander science seat AND a lt. commander tactical. You want to be able to slot Grav Well III, Subspace Vortex III, and Delayed Overload Cascade III and have Spread III and II on your tac for your gravimetric torpedo and particle torp.

You don't have to have all that but if you wanna do science extra hard, that's the jam. Some folks really like Very Cold In Space but I think it's mediocre and unnecessary with a super mean Gravity Well. Delayed Overload Cascade III will delete spawns of raiders, escorts, and pretty much anything else with less than cruiser hull capacity with a single cast in stuff like the redone patrol missions.

Is there anything good from the phoenix store between rare and very rare?

I got a few very rare tokens and traded them down, but some of those consoles in the very rare section look... interesting? The Interphasic Instability one I guess mostly.

I don't think I screwed up just wondering if I should spend the dilz on any of it once I'm done getting all those phoenix upgrade tokens.

BTW, g0del, it took me until now to realize you were right and I had been for approximately two weeks looking at a Mk IV weapon and somehow ignoring the lack of an 'X' in front of it, thinking it was Mk XIV.

Corrected now, anyway. I also sold off the rest of the zen I had left sitting around (only about 350) for dilz and replaced the other one I was apparently blind about with the quad phasers from the Sao Paolo ship req.

Somewhat related, is there a better combat impulse engine available than the Quantum Phase Combat Impulse ones? Literally none of the fleet/elite fleet versions of engines seem like they're viable, it's like the QC is just stupidly overbudget. The aux boost I don't think you can get on anything even remotely comparable. Now that all my core consoles are upgraded to XV I was going to start spending future phoenix upgrades on either warp core or engines, don't want to waste that poo poo on set gear that's not actually as good as it looks like.

Epic and UR are heavily dependant on whether or not you got the ships when they were account unlocks. If not, and if you ever do get an Epic, the bajoran interceptor has the DOMINO console which is one of the best universals in the game. Probably only behind the DPRM, which is extremely expensive for Feds. For VR, I'm not sure if any of the consoles are really worth it, but the Prolonged phaser is good. And I believe all the Prolonged Engagement stuff is account unlock despite what the phoenix store says.

If you're building from scratch, the current meta for energy weapons is:
Elite Fleet Intervention Protomatter Deflector Array [EPS] [ColCrit] from the colony.
Prevailing Innervated Impulse Engines from T3 competitive rep.
Mycelial Harmonic Core from T4 disco rep.
Tilly’s Review-Pending Modified Shield from T5 disco rep. And while you're there the Lorca console is good, even if you're not running a phaser build. Grabbing the matching torpedo for the two-piece bonus is nice if you're planning to run a torp.

These aren't too hard to get if you've got your reps done. If not, this is the perfect time to start since the summer event makes getting marks pretty easy. This doesn't mean that everyone needs to drop everything right now if they're using other gear - this game is easy enough that just having some set items will get you through any normal content. But if you're basically starting from nothing, might as well get the current hotness.

The Prevailing impulse engines are a lot of fun, too. Every time you hit a firing mode boff ability you get a free mini-evasive maneuvers from it.

This is correct, the Prolonged Engagement stuff shows up in the event store or the dil store reclaim, one of the two, once you buy them once. The two-piece bonus for the set is very good. And if you don't have the TR Sniper Rifle or the Tommy Gun, grab the Shotgun.

The prolonged engagement torpedo is a wide-angle/180-degree torpedo too, which isn't immediately obvious if you don't look closely at the stats. This makes it pretty convenient for broadsiding beam boats since there isn't much competition there and most of the alternatives do way less damage.

Somewhat. Rep grind is the reliable way to get T6 ships and good gear, thought he 'Fleet' ships don't come with the special traits storebought ships do.

But you're in luck, the summer event stats Tuesday and it gives away a free full-T6 ship for doing it enough days.

No, that's the loop for jaded players who've already done all the missions. And rep grind isn't honestly that bad unless you're trying to do all of them all at once on a new account. A single TFO with the daily reward will generally give you enough marks to do 4 dailies.

If you haven't played in years, you should probably do the episodes. There are a lot of them, and some of them are pretty good. You can generally do missions with gear that you've picked up or mission rewards, or you can ask in chat and hopefully someone will be around to craft you some basic stuff.

All the overpowered consoles/traits/ships in gamble boxes and expensive z-store bundles are there, but not necessary. People who have too much money or too much time spent in the game chase them, but you can make a build that will easily handle normal and advanced queues with free stuff.

The best advice.

If anyone is worried about min maxing for uber efficiency that's great and it's a long term goal worth thinking about. In STO that isn't mandatory. Particularly not with the current skill tree which is about as user friendly as it's ever been. Just set weapons power on your ship to max and you're halfway there already.

You don't want to know what the original skill tree looked like.

There's been some great missions since then, though the latest ones rely heavily on Discovery content and aren't that great. "Curse your sudden but inevitable betrayal" is supposed to be a joke, not writing advice. But the stuff before that is really good, especially the DS9 arc. And you can make jem'hadar alts and have them stagger around ESD suffering from ketracel white withdrawal.

There are new reputations to grind now. And all the reputations go up to T6 so you can grind your old reps some more too. It takes forever, but there are decent rewards for doing it.
