I choose videogame characters based on the voice acting that I like best, which is why I played woman shepherd in mass effect and a huge fat naked dude with Laura Bailey's voice and what basically looked like Scully from the X Files but with a gruff cockney dude's voice in Saints Row 4

Like I just played System Shock 2 for the first time and outside of grunting and the hilariously bad ending cinematic the guy is just a guy in the most minimum sense possible. I would find it pretty weird for someone to care enough to decide against playing it. If he were some irritating swaggering macho type then I'd get it. EDIT: Of course these are also (well if we're talking the Prime games) first person perspective, so I wonder if that's a factor.

Nioh 2 has a really good character creator. The only unfortunate thing is that they only allow you 3 tattoos at once so my character has two arm sleeves but only one leg tattoo.
