Gonna get Replacement Refs again baby aroooo

that's not nature's way
I had open heart surgery to replace my bicuspid valve at 33, but it was because it created an aneurysm in my ascending aorta. That's the real "time bomb."

You have plenty of warning if your bicuspid valve is failing you. Lots of aortic aneurysms only get discovered after they've exploded—which, if you don't happen to be on a surgical table at the time, is very, very likely fatal. That's what forced Dorenbos into retirement. I met him and we talked heart issues for a while, it was pretty great.

People remember the replacement refs, meanwhile the players are too dependent on their first year game checks to strike

Re: heart chat.

I had 3 heart murmors as a kid that I outgrew. I had to take antibiotics before dental work. I didn't realize it was not normal and indicative of a big deal.

Flash forward a few years and my recruiter told me we didn't need to tell anyone about my heart murmurs. So when I get to dental at PI, I answered yes to "have you ever had to take antibiotics before dental work" because yeah, whats the big deal right?

That night all sorts of yelling and you are gonna go to jail for lying after we kick you out etc. And I have no idea what's happening or why. I finally realize what happened and I explain (the whole time thinking gently caress my recruiter). I guess everyone realized that I wasn't trying to hide it or whatever and then I got to rot in the medical rejects platoon for 3 weeks until I got EKGs run off base and they made sure that getting hazed wouldnt kill me.

The moral of the story - never trust a recruiter.

The Expendables, but it’s all NFL officials from the 2000’s that I can still loving name. Guns Hochuli and his son getting into lengthy announcement wars with Gene Steratore! Mike Carey! Walt “Tuck Rule” Coleman! Al Riveron coming back from the league office! Bill “Super Bowl XL” Leavy! Terry McAulay!

Actually a few of those guys were pretty good, but still, the NFL is stupid and if enough of the normal officials right now back out, it’ll be stupid as hell. You know somehow the Saints will lose a game because they got the one replacement ref who doesn’t understand some rule (Let’s say... roughing the kicker!) and we’ll never hear the end of it.

Watching the 49ers/Ravens game from last year on NFLN that was played in a rainstorm. A report from the 49ers sideline:

'These guys soaked their footballs before the game. They wanted people to touch them, they wanted people to throw them, hold them. Just wanted everyone to get a feel for how it's going to be out there.'

That really was a great game. Just such a great intensity to it even though it had no real playoff implications whatsoever for either team. And then Tucker carried off the field in the end. It was like football in its purest form and both teams played well.

No he's actually right, everyone who in normal circumstances would be playing college ball on a scholarship should be given the opportunity to sit out the season and collect a $150,000 to $300,000 check and not lose scholarship eligibility for the 2021-2022 school year.
