Uber is uber I prioritize people who are getting things done but if they're all topped up I will switch to anyone who's not full. I am bad at medic and need to shave off as much time to charge as I can.

Usually when it happens I don’t say anything in chat and purposefully target the person just because it’s amazing that people get so mad about something so inconsequential. Like I’m decent at the game but I get poo poo on in some of the better pubs by certain players. There is just nothing you can do but try a different strategy and hope for the best.

I approach every game of casual queue with the mindset that I'm probably going to be dropped on a team with 5 snipers and I might as well be the 6th at that point and maybe use the piss gun or something. I heal demoknights when I'm medic because guy with 300hp swinging a random crit pan or super long sword around is not something to be hosed with.

I can't comprehend getting genuinely Mad At Video Games in TF2 of all things. The game is a giant slapstick joke about sociopathic idiots fighting over gravel and getting mad at it in any way seems to require taking the setting too seriously

I have been playing nonstop since reinstalling on July 30th and even if not the heyday of a few years ago, this is still one of the best games ever made. I always get into a game fast and I can still do well or poor as there are still so many different kinds of players. Are there any other 13 year old games like this? (also the haunted ghosts weapon skin rules)

TF2 is one of those games that I always have installed on my computer almost out of principle. It brought me so much joy throughout the years, I always want to have it ready if I decide I want another go. Also MvM is very fun IMO.

Started playing again this week for the first time in years, though I've been keeping an eye on it this whole time (by which I mean, reading this thread). It's weird coming back after so long! It's interesting how they've tried to make matchmaking more like old servers (with the "next map" vote), though it still feels way more impersonal. I still think the ability to switch teams was a positive for the game. There are even weapons I'm not familiar with, from the "Jungle Inferno" update, and I missed a bunch of balance patches. I think the "panic attack" became a completely different gun like two or three times, right? I'm surprised the "competitive matchmaking" enforces 6v6 but doesn't have a highlander mode. I feel like highlander is a more attractive-to-the-masses mode, and a nice halfway point between the seriousness levels of 6v6 and just tryharding in casual games. I imagine a lot of people dipping their toes into that mode give up quickly because they're not allowed to play Pyro or something. ...anyway, I know it hasn't been too long since someone asked this, but it's hard to search and circumstances seem to change pretty quickly. What are some decent community servers these days? I saw one or two goon servers going up as pandemic lockdown started, but I think they died right? So I tried to see if I could join a PASS Time game today, and surprisingly, I managed to find a game. Tried messing around with Sniper and Spy before I decided to go Scout like everyone else. I figured the mode was bad, since so few people play it (the alternative game modes don't seem to be too active), but it was honestly pretty fun...or at least I had fun. Playing as the Scout with the Shortstop, I got a ton of kills and managed to score the round-winning goal. I was hoping to work my way towards getting the Pass Time achievement (win 10 rounds), but I guess someone got pissed at me for one reason or another, and they started a vote to kick me from the game, which succeeded. - I wanted to do the Merasmus Tune achievement, but from what I've heard and read, it basically requires you to convince the whole server to coordinate.

Valve were probably worried that having to find two people of each specific class would make queue times obnoxious, and just throwing everyone in first-in-first-served on class choices would lead to a lot of toxicity when people couldn't play their preferred class. They were probably right.

Peanut President posted:ranked matchmaking is always toxic, valve would know considering they own dota Honestly it's only really that way in a team context if one's ranking is reliant on how one's team performs, ideally it would only take into account personal performance for that kind of thing, or at least for the parts the player is shown, or even better everything relating to ranking is kept hidden and is used purely in the background for matchmaking purposes

It was also too little too late so no one jumped off pugchamp or other pug networks since they are already what the community plays. Highlander is just too many people with too many restrictions on what to play. You end up with what is essentially Overwatch role queque, but for 9 classes. You’ll have a lot more spies and snipers waiting than anything.

(The regular taunts let you do that too, but then you're locked into the taunt animation for a fixed length of time). They're also rare and expensive, so it doesn't matter how minuscule the potential advantage is, any advantage at all over the stock taunts is enough to get them banned for pay-to-win reasons.

Honestly it's never really felt like it gives a big enough advantage to be worth banning, at the very least they should allow them to be used before the matches start when everyone is getting ready and after the match has ended

Marketplace.TF updated their blog today with this announcement:Marketplace.TF posted:tl;dr: From December 15th 2020, it will no longer be possible to sell items on Marketplace.tf. Marketplace will still exist, but will only sell items from a small list of hand-selected sellers. I don't totally grasp everything said here, but if they're going to restrict seller to hand-picked few, I imagine that there's going to drive the price of items up. Are there any other legit sites that sell TF2 items? I know there's Scrap.TF, but it's the same entity as Marketplace.TF.
