It's gory, and really goes hard into mining the actual horror experienced by POC's in the Jim Crow South, but I don't think the first episode is traditionally scary exactly. I have read the book though and there is probably some pretty scary stuff coming, which will be scary if it's executed as well as this has been so far, if that makes sense.

Just had an interview for a new position at my job. Not the one I have been targeting for a while, but would start a lot sooner and be considerably less stressful while still paying acceptably. some stuff i watched recently a lesson in love - bergman comedy that was pretty funny, lots of one liners about dudes rocking. not great tho the circus - good chaplin thing about the business passing him by. not my favorite chaplin or even close to it but some classic bits, the tightrope part had me hollerin a day at the races - so-so marx brothers thing. some good old fashioned black face out of nowhwere, thank you 30s. least favorite thing of them i've seen. saving private ryan - somehow knew nothing about this besides good dday scene. well ya, the dday scene was good. the rest of the movie couldnt match up to it really. i thought it was incredibly funny that private ryan ended up being a total dipshit lol. his stupid fuckin story while hanks is trying not to show his disgust on his face. great stuff. anyways, it was alright. scenes from a marriage episode 1 - what a masterpiece mwa mwa mwa. if the other 5 episodes are even close in quality this will skyrocket up my fave five. bye

Just got a call from the supervisor to congratulate me and tell me I will be getting a salary offer tomorrow. The spirit bomb really did work yall tysm They even told me if I still wanted to go for the other job that pays better I could take it cuz it wouldn't start until January and they would be ok with me just rounding out the quarter. by the time A Day at the Races was made, the one dude at the studio with whom the Marxes actually wanted to work had died suddenly, and the director they were stuck with had drat little patience/respect for them, so they were largely there to qualify for their paychecks pair that with the general attitude in the editing process of “nobody goes to see a Marx Brothers comedy for the comedy of the Marx Brothers! No, what they really want is more and longer water ballet sequences! No, more than that. I said MORE WATER BALLET DAMMIT” and yeah, you got yourself a distinctly uneven film, at best
