Soon.

I know this was relatively recent but I was thinking about the NY Times dual endorsement again.

The amount of entertainment that must have produced is staggering and I feel I passed it up. Is there a place to watch the interviews online and read reactions to the decision?

I just meant the media writing about her or doing video or whatever. All the articles I didn't once see someone bring it up - I meant it was obvious even not having heard her real voice I noticed it right off the bat. It's like someone else said making the comparison to Don Jr it's VERY obvious he's putting on a deeper voice.

there’s audio of her in a conference call where she forgets to do the voice and she accidentally answers a question in a perfectly normal voice, realizes her mistake, and then goes back to her peter steele impression

You know how you can mention {BrandName} in any random context and have their social media ninja butt into the conversation to say how glad they are that you're enjoying their products and poo poo? That's engagement, and this is the human version. Every time a public figure posts a thing, legions of centrist bloggers need to acknowledge it. It's how they stay relevant and employable.

Exactly this. There's been more depressing boot-licking by Trump voters dying of COVID but I haven't found a more pathetic and alien example than the Rubin tweet. I flinch when i see it, i'll never stop flinching.

There was a company (I think either CVS or Walgreens) that had their people analyse Theranos. They put together a report that was like “What they claim to be perfecting is literally impossible. We strongly advise not investing in this company”.

The executives were like “But what if it’s not and our competitor goes deep! We cannot allow a mine shaft gap!” and gave an obscene amount of money into Theranos.

Wanna say it was Safeway.

edit:

quote:

Burd led the initiative to partner with Theranos and build wellness centers in Safeway stores. The deal made SafeWay the exclusive grocery store provider of Theranos technology and spawned a secret, internal project called “T-Rex” to create wellness centers in their stores. Safeway spent $350 million dollars renovating over 800 stores to support these centers. According to former employees, he managed the partnership directly with Theranos CEO Elizabeth Holmes.

It was in Bad Blood.

Walgreens had hired a laboratory specialist in 2010 as part of their due diligence before partnering with Theranos. When the consultant tried to alert Walgreens about his suspicions in late 2010, executives ignored him, according to Carreyrou.

“They were so afraid that Theranos would turn around and strike a deal with their rival, their arch-rival, CVS that they just ignored their own in-house consultant,” Carreyrou said.

Yeah that part of the story just rules.

The part of the story about the engineers and lab techs inside Theranos...less so.

Plus they also took the public sector for a ride too.

He wasn’t just roped in. He gushed about the amazing integrity Holmes had, and dressed down a subordinate for pointing out that it was all bullshit. He did the latter before he was even on the board at Theranos.

I finished Bad Blood last night. Having the whole story in one place really drives holmes what an absolute poo poo show it was. It was just morons and abusive psychopaths from top to bottom. One guy who literally worked directly with the equipment and had the data to show that it was all being faked went to his savvy investor grandpa, and gramps was all, “No, Elizabeth, who fired you for bringing this up, is definitely the one telling the truth, here.” Then gramps secretly invited Holmes to his 95th birthday party and sprung her on the whistle-blowing grandson.
