Yeah, I have closed toe Keen Newports that are going on 7 years now (non reinforced toe). They are super comfortable and before I started working from home full time a couple years ago, I wore them all the time in the office. The tread is still good, and the leather is buttery smooth now. Love them.

I have some Red Wing metatarsal guard boots that I just change out the insoles once in a while. Pretty sure they weigh more together than a back packers kit. I pretend I'm putting on knight boots or some poo poo, don't understand why you'd ever want sandals. Pretty sure they are going to out live me.

Strictly speaking grilling over charcoal is carcinogenic. That being said it imparts a nice taste. I don’t see molten metals as being particularly...good at imparting a nice flavor.

Their webpage says it's basalt that they're melting, I doubt there's anything particularly nasty in it. Of course, I'm not a chemist or geologist so don't try this at home (I wish I could try this at home) http://lavaproject.syr.edu/making-lava/making.html

Driving home from work and saw a guy working on a church roof with no safety equipment slip. He just barely grabbed on to avoid a 4-story fall.
