I think the US is dumb for not using Celsius
I think you have to be on the US West server (click your gamertag in the main menu to pick a server) and then have All players and not just live players.

In other news, Clint did a thing.

I remember those days. Spending loving hours trying to get a Matrox TripleHead2Go working because video cards didn't have easy plug-and-play extended desktops. Now you can just buy a 49" super ultrawide and call it a day.

Yeah, it was astonishing that the multiplayer component just...worked. Set live traffic and have everyone spawn in at the same airport and that's it, you're all there next to one another. Hah, I think that was me. It was odd, I'm even in the back of your screenshot and could see other distant randoms people were pointing out along the way, but the entire goon armada was missing on my screen. Thinking about it I also couldn't see the person everyone chased around the arrival airport, so I wonder if its something to do with proximity + high latency with me playing from the UK?

Then when I realised I was last I got stage fright and almost lawndarted turning onto final, hopefully nobody was watching. :ohdear:

But it was still super cool tagging along and hearing your explanations of everything.,thanks for taking the time to do it. A+ experience would definitely swarm random airports with goons again.

Yeah but it needs to hook into the simulator so that it constantly reads the switch states and synchronizes the light switches appropriately. I don't wanna just bind it so that releasing the switch fires a keystroke that turns the switch off, because that means I need to cycle all the switches whenever I start up to make sure they're synchronized with the game. :spergin:

To make it work in X-Plane I had to write my own scripts though so ugh.

Me too! If people come up with another topic I'm happy to talk about it (I don't know IFR procedures very well, so maybe someone else can handle those) or we can just goonswarm a canyon and try to all land on the same mesa or whatever.

I can't explain the load times (do you have 8GB of RAM or something?) It is very likely your GPU usage is heavy. Are you using Task Manager for GPU usage? It is way off, use something like MSI Afterburner.

Try going to options - general - developers and turn on developer mode, then go to options at the top of the screen and select "Display FPS". It does an excellent job of showing what is limiting your performance (MainThread would be CPU).

Using 32 GB RAM, and monitoring the devmode FPS counter shows it always is MainThread limited. The only time that the GPU goes into more usage is while it loads things or sits on the main menu when it goes to like 100 fps.

Troubleshooting in the air over my hometown led me to set everything to Ultra which somehow gave me an additional 20 fps, and High an additional 25 fps. (Though after that the gains disappear for some reason.) Got an additional 5 fps from disabling AI traffic which let me finally land at about 38 FPS (sorry about that, Pearson airfield). Going back and forth has allowed the game to finally be playable, though the load times are still quite long! I tweaked a bunch of other stuff but nothing seemed to really affect the framerate, so I've kind of just buckled down to learn about the 172 autopilot which is rather more fun than I thought.

Encountered a kind of odd thing with the Live Pause where after just looking around the cabin and then unpausing causes the Xbox controller to apparently decide the pitch control's center is high or low immediately going full nose-up or nose-down. If I go to the keyboard controls and recover, it stays normal until the controller is touched again and then it goes nuts once more. I'm not sure if I've inadvertently activated something or what, but it does seem to do this regardless of if its plugged in or operating wirelessly.

Yeah, the lack of reordering stuff is dumb and the backwards poo poo is also dumb. Ah well, at least it's predictable dumb. Though you can have the game automatically generate a VOR route for you, using the dropdown in the upper left corner of the world map. Dunno how well it optimizes or legalizes or what have you, but it's a lazy option you can use.

In the middle of a flight, I found out a listed VOR station (in game) was in fact not a VOR station (in real life and also in game in terms of frequencies working and whatnot), and I had to search up an alternate station to find new directions. Fun in its own way, but also annoying.

Also the autoVOR is OK, but if I want a scenic route I'd rather do it myself, and I almost always want a scenic route.

Active pause is a lie. It freezes you where you are but your velocity still changes based on however you're flying at that moment. Unpause, and your velocity is given back to the plane all at once.

I think it's a bug. One of the loading screens specifically says you can use the pause if your flight is too thrilling. A trimmed in level flight isn't exactly thrilling, and that's the only situation that guarantees you survive coming back from pause.

I’m pretty sure that plane is just straight missing some garmin controls, but I’m not sure if that’s the issue. (I only know that it has no way to set baro pressure.)

Okay? Active pause is still bugged. It makes zero sense for your plane to gain and lose airspeed while frozen in place. The autopilot will also still trim the plane while you're in active pause, which is also obviously a bug.

edit: the other pause mode seems to be some kind of weird legacy pause mode that they haven't fully taken out of the game yet and is broken in other ways. It saves all of your clicks/inputs and them does them all at the same time when it unpauses, except it gives you zero feedback as you're doing it. Active Pause mode is meant to be that, except things react as you click them. It's meant to be like if you froze a moment in time and were still able to act in it. The plane still accumulating/losing airspeed and the AP still trimming when this is going on is not intended behavior.

It's cool that they actually have the marshals in by default. In every other flight simulator you could only get that with a buggy plugin.

Also pretty hilarious that they have marshals for your tiny little bugsmasher at basically every airport with parking. usually you don't get that treatment unless you park at the ~executive jet center~ or something

I just crashed while landing at the end of a bush trek leg because a bird walked across my keyboard and managed to trigger a hotkey that stopped me from turning left or right. Even using my rudder barely affected anything. Does anyone know what he triggered to cause that? I looked at all the default bound hotkeys and couldn't figure out what command he triggered to cause that.
