I'm just glad we're out of the era where everyone sampled Jules' ezekiel speech from Pulp Fiction.

Hellraiser 2 gets the heck sampled out of it by death metal bands. 57% of those samples come from Aborte. "I do that rather well...don't you think?" is the best sample by far tho. Also, Mortician is the only band to get a pass for 1 minute + horror movie samples imo.

Henchman of Santa posted:All of the ones on Dopethrone. Vinum Sabbathi gets all the play because it's great for opening an album, but the one I love most is just the "heh heh heh hmmmm" before the title track kicks in. Akercocke's "Praise the Name of Satan" starts with a 2-minute Hammer House of Horror sample that manages to be both really cheesy and totally appropriate at the same time https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zN248Gc4oH8 Also unrelated to sample talk but the new Unleash the Archers is really good, and I say that as someone usually not into power metal at all (with a handful of exceptions).

Yeah it's taken some digesting for me but I'm coming around on it. I'm still not sure if it needs two 80s AOR songs, and the weird Devin Townsend sounding track really sticks out, but it's growing on me. Also they released one more music video. This track is definitely a highlight on the album, imo. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8JpOcvvnX_s

Been working through Hannes Grossmann's solo albums and there are some really loving good riffs. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iKnlXJFb21k Every track on Crypts of Sleep is a standout. Seems like all the standout tech death artists in Europe collaborate together regularly and I'm really enjoying the trifecta of Alkaloid, Hannes Grossman, and Obscura.
