Yes, he will be a UFA at the end of the season. However, the game has a week-long re-signing period between the draft and July 1st where teams get first dibs to re-sign players if they want to. So, even if a player is about to become a UFA, they still have a chance to offer players an extension before July 1st. Players have contract requests (length and salary), and if a CPU GM offers a contract, it is what that request is, there isn't much negotiation. Sometimes, the CPU teams just decide to let players walk, which is how we had a handful of players change teams last offseason.
