Katrina could have been so much worse. It was an absolute monster Cat 5 that seemed directly trained on NOLA, but it dipped to a Cat 3 and veered slightly east right before it made landfall. Of course, people were expecting flooding from the storm surge and not from the rain weakening the levees.

My relative is about 30 feet above ground, he can't really drive himself. Hopefully Emergency services are still around. The guy we expected to be considering him decided to evacuate last night without saying anything.
