Here's something of a concern of mine: I saw Spiff playing duchess Matilda, and he went all in on Family focus, with +50% diplomacy lifestyle experience (from education + being an HRE councilor), and it still looks like by the time he even reaches the Matriarch perk he's not going to have very many years left to make use of that fertility bump. It's a pretty minor gripe, to be sure, but drat, you'd think with that much of a bonus you'd be able to get there a bit quicker.

People should be able to wander into Buckingham palace and chill with the queen.

My favorite ?apocryphal? story is the let them eat cake comment was more about having baguettes and brioche, so if the peasants are out of baguettes, why don’t they eat brioche in the meantime? What’s hunger? More of a ‘this person is out of touch and doesn’t understand hunger’ since they’re a ~20 year old rich girl vs ‘this person is telling us to eat poo poo and go gently caress ourselves’ kind of thing.

I may have had bad history teachers.

The story is definitely apocryphal, there was not really a famine during Louis XVI's reign but there was a bread shortage the year before the revolution kicked off. Her actual thoughts on the matter were quite different:quote:It is quite certain that in seeing the people who treat us so well despite their own misfortune, we are more obliged than ever to work hard for their happiness. The King seems to understand this truth.

As I recall there's functionally no evidence that the phrase was ever said by an actual person, and the first appearance of the phrase in writing is attributed to "a french princess" by a writer who published his book while Marie Antoinette was still a child. For all we know, the "french princess" might be just a character in a well known joke from the time.

Every dynasty unlock unlocked. God drat why can’t it be tomorrow. I can finally get in on the ground floor of day 1 paradox breaks and have a great time. I saw this this morning but I didn't grok it properly. Don't you get points from independent dynasty members only? I'd guess that 98% of those 1.541 members are vassals to one another.
