I have no idea what date they've reached on this stream of old Nitros, but Ric Flair is the leader of a group called... the Magnificent Seven? And he's protecting Rick Steiner from Dustin Rhodes.... for reasons? And Ernest The Cat Miller is the most over guy on the show because he said he's going to re-instate his foot in Flair's rear end?

Nash just proposed that Flair doesn't have all his bases covered. Flair claimed that he has all six bases covered.

Scott majorly hosed up on (or prior to) a European tour in February of 2000. WCW wanted to suspend or fire him but they wanted him to do the Superbrawl 2000 PPV first. I forget what he did but it had to be alcohol related.

But he got badly injured so they couldn't fire him like they wanted and had to wait until August to do so.

quote:

The Hall story has gotten completely ridiculous. Hall, who, despite his track record was being pushed for the main event on the 2/20 PPV show as a three-way title match with Sid Vicious and Jeff Jarrett, appeared while getting on the plane to Germany that he hadn't slept in days (he had reportedly told other wrestlers the same story), got sick on the plane going over and was in no condition to perform the first night of the tour. Still, he did wrestle, and as punishment, on 2/11 in Hamburg was asked to put over David Finlay, which he did. He got wins over Finlay the next two nights but his condition wasn't described as being much better. There were incidents every night at bars regarding Hall challenging people to fights and even throwing cake at his girlfriend and moaning to many wrestlers about the last break-up of his marriage. As he went to the airport to fly home with the rest of the crew, his conditioned has worsened to the point the authorities wouldn't allow him on the plane. Terry Taylor, who apparently had trouble with him all weekend, tried to intervene, but with no success, in getting the authorities to just allow him on the plane to fly to New York for Nitro. Because of his condition, he missed the Nitro show at the Nassau Coliseum, where he was supposed to be in a major angle to set up the three-way, which led to the booking of a Jarrett-Vicious singles match on the show for the U.S. title and Jarrett winning.

Hall did get back into the U.S. in time for the Thunder tapings the next night in Philadelphia. There are varying stories over exactly what happened due to these incidents taking place just as this issue was going to press. What is confirmed is that in front of the crowd, the show was held up for more than 30 minutes while they attempted to do the scripted Hall promo, which was supposed to end with Hall breaking a guitar over Jarrett's head. Hall apparently said something that he might break the guitar over Taylor's head, and was taken seriously enough that he was pulled from the angle. Eventually, Bill Busch made the call that they weren't going to allow Hall to do the promo due to his condition and he left the building with Evan Karagias and there were rumors going around that this would be the final straw. Terry Taylor instead took a guitar shot from Jarrett. Hall's future in the company was unclear but he was out that night telling people that he hadn't showed up late and felt he had an iron-clad contract but that he might be sat down again.

Hall being drunk as an angle happened in '98 I think, but they were still making references to him well into 2000 even when he hadn't been on TV for months. I don't know why exactly, maybe Nash asked for a shout out, or they just wanted to wring all they could from his contract, or something else entirely?

TheKingslayer

About what time period was it where Hall and Nash were supposed to feud and they were bullshitting injuries so they never had put each other over? Not trying to screw each other but agreeing to just not wrestle each other.

This led to that one segment where it was Nash and I think DDP having a conversation and mentioning Hall's name so often that they just muted most of the audio, but left in the swinging lamp and the sound of a banging drum instead of just cutting it entirely.

That was almost exactly a year before Russo at the build-up to Halloween Havoc '98. It was fallout from Goldberg's title win, sort of. Hall had been gone during the Wolfpac's split and their babyface run, such as it was, and he returned the night Goldberg won the title on the build-up to Bash at the Beach that year with Rodman and Malone. Goldberg had to beat him before he faced Hollywood in the main event to win the title, and it was a bit of a surprise that he returned with the black and white when he was OG Wolfpac. Hell, it was his name, I'm pretty sure.

Anyway, the natural angle of him feuding with Nash waited three PPVs, and that's when Hall started coming to the ring drunk during the build-up to his match with Nash, and kept yelling things like "WHERE WERE YOU WHEN MY LIFE FELL APART!?" Hall "won" the Halloween Havoc match because Nash beat the poo poo out of him and left him laying in the middle of the ring for what theoretically could've been a decisive, clean win, but having proved his point, he left without pinning Scott.

It was a weird angle, but the build to that show had this fuckin' awesome angle where the Wolfpac hosed up nWo Hollywood's limo and then brawled with them through the show and then Sting beat the gently caress out of Bret Hart.

You ever wonder if Bischoff ever thought about the future when he was riding high in 97? Like 'oh hey all the guys who are propping this company up are old and maybe if I want this company to last 10 years I'm going to have to figure a life post-them.' Probably not but do you think he was purely myopic or if he saw the corporate discord and figured it was better if he just treated WCW as a smash-and-grab operation? One thing's for sure; we'll never get the truth from him.

I bet he never thought he was going to be doing Podcasts to make a living after his WCW's high's that's for sure.

but yea he could have been the new Vince had he not gone mad with getting himself over (and Hogan and his nWo buddies booking poo poo). I mean generally speaking - the nWo is probably the most known wrestling "stable" in the world (with DX second, Bullet Club third (?)). He had all the potential and star performers there, but he also had Ego and Vince Russo. If he thought of it as a pure-business and not a "whee I get to spend a billionaires money, he won't care how much i spend! 5 million for Randy Savage's brother! and getting involved onscreen like he's Vince, he could have definitely become a TV exec guy - he was running like what 6-7 hours of live tv weekly for them (plus monthly PPV's, who knows if Turner got a cut of that), if he chose that route instead of being onscreen famous, he could be running TNT or something while owning all the WWE/WCW wrestling libraries for their new streaming service TNT!+!+! , but turned out he's a carny at heart - so I think for sure it was a smash-and-grab.

Instead of expanding into the nWo into original/wolfpack/latino/whatever else and instead trimmed people in/out slowly between Original/Wolfpack (Without loving Diesel booking), it could have run a good course (especially if they get rid of Hogan since Vince would probably be offering him truckloads of money to get him back at this point - I'm just assuming they've been winning the Monday Night Wars for a while at this point) and Focused more on their amazing Talents (Most of their Cruiserweights - Eddie/Benoit/Lance/Dean) and their good main eventers (Vader/Flair/Sting/David Arquette) - Vader vs Benoit could have been amazing!

I'm sure he thinks back in hindsight and gets sad knowing what could have been, I mean he used to swing with Kim Page :v:

e: just read his Wiki, and he definitely didn't think about the future imo, he's a classic hustler

quote:

Before getting into professional wrestling, Bischoff had a number of occupations. He acted in a training video for bank employees regarding fair lending practices, owned a successful landscape construction company, worked as a veterinary assistant, competed as a professional kickboxer, and ran a butcher shop, where he sold meat via van delivery.

During the gradual demise of the AWA, the company was unable to meet payroll, and Bischoff auditioned for an announcer's position with the World Wrestling Federation (WWF) in 1990, but was not hired.

Television production career
Bischoff, with actor Jason Hervey, ran his own production company, Bischoff-Hervey Entertainment, which primarily produced reality TV shows, through 2017. They produced a live Girls Gone Wild pay-per-view event from Florida in 2003. They also executive produced the VH1 reality shows Scott Baio Is 45...and Single, Scott Baio Is 46...and Pregnant, I Want To Be a Hilton, and Confessions of a Teen Idol, along with the CMT show Billy Ray Cyrus...Home At Last. Bischoff-Hervey Productions also produced a wrestling reality show called Hulk Hogan's Celebrity Championship Wrestling in which ten celebrities were trained to wrestle and one celebrity is voted off weekly. Bischoff also appeared as one of the "judges" on the show. In November 2009, Bischoff helped produce Hulk Hogan's Hulkamania: Let The Battle Begin tour to Australia. Bischoff, also has a show in development with Food Network called "Food Fight" where pro wrestlers take on celebrity chefs in cooking and then tag-team with them in a wrestling match.

Video game production career
In 2013, along with partners Jason Hervey and Ike McFadden, Bischoff formed the online gaming company MX Digital.[59] The company develops and distributes online and mobile celebrity-themed games in Europe and North America. Among the company's first released games were Hulk Hogan's Hulkamania, which debuted on SkyVegas in November 2012.[60] Their next game, The Hoff, featuring actor-singer David Hasselhoff, was released widely in Europe in February 2013.

In early 2014, his online-gaming company announced a deal with actor Dan Aykroyd to launch a Blues Brothers online casino game in Europe.[63] Later that year, MX Digital launched their games on Facebook, under the moniker "MX Casino". Slot-machine-style games playable upon launch as a Facebook app included "socialized" versions of Hulk Hogan's Hulkamania, as well as a similarly Facebook-friendly version of The Hoff. Also debuting in October of that year were a batch of new celebrity-themed games, this time starring the likes of Dennis Rodman, James Dean and Chuck Norris.[64]

I'm also getting a personal grudge with Vince not hiring played some role with this in some way, and man did he ride Hulk's coat tails to the end

Why be ashamed of enjoying Bischoff as a character? He's a great, natural heel, good on the mic and has a lot of charisma.

Also I noted earlier on how Bryan and friends hated Duggan. Man did they change their tune in 2000. Jim Duggan in 2000 was the best babyface in WCW.

It wasn't a smash-and-grab, he just didn't know when to stop throwing good money after bad. He kept trying to beat Vince in the ratings and he kept trying to make the nWo happen after it had run its course. There’s no loving way Vince would have let the Hulkster pull any poo poo after WM14. Austin was the man and him vs the rock was printing money. Hogan’s run in 03-04 was pretty good because he had to do whatever Vince said or go home and not get paid.

My mind was blown when Brock beat him on smackdown. And I laughed a few years ago when I found out they Hogan he would get the win back on ppv, but then just told him plans changed.

What would have been interesting is if Flair went to wwe when he got fired. We at least know he would have played ball and had no problem putting over guys as long as the checks cleared. Especially Austin, who he knew was a future main eventer back in wcw.

You could also argue he was too starstruck. Either way had he been able to separate business and personal life he might have been able to play a little hardball with Hogan. Unless he found Hogan faffing off to Hollywood to also be unacceptable.
