Didn't they make this for 3 mana in MH1?

Yep. "Geomancer gambit". 3 mana and the new land came into play untapped.

MH1 had a much more explicit 'please put lands in your graveyard' theme, while ZNR is all about landfall, so it's not surprising to me that the new card is cheaper but the land comes in tapped instead.

I'm struggling with evaluating this one. I don't think it's just jam 4 in place of plains in every deck and call it a day, I think being a monocolored bolt land is a pretty massive drawback against aggro since you'll need the full compliment of taplands for mana fixing. In a control mirror it seems fantastic, but better in place of a split of lands and spells. In that matchup I think I'm more excited about getting to play a couple extra lands than having my lands be spells. Is it better than a cheap threat as a sb plan? Midrange would love to turn lands into spells against control, however. Does aggro ever get to a point where it can cast this and still win the game? Likely not.

I'd have been more excited about it 5 years ago, but these days it's a lot more uncommon to run out of resources.

Yeah. I like the landfall showcase cards but the rest are underwhelming.

First off: Can't believe the name hadn't been used already.

Second, obnoxious in commander.

Third, am I misunderstanding, but since the lifegain isn't a replacement you can still take out an opponent with combat damage if you do it in one go? They lose before getting the life back from the ability, but the first strike damage is undone before regular damage resolves. Super weird.

Uhm, what?

This thing hits for 2 damage first strike, then you each gain 2 life, so a net loss of 0 for the opponent. Then again for regular damage, but if they are on 1 life they lose the game on damage before getting anything back.

It seems like it would have been better prior to the eternal formats becoming more centered around running a relatively high basic count. It’s a cool card for sure, I wouldn’t be surprised if it sees play

I mean, they surely will NOT reprint fetches in a standard set while triomes are legal.

Also, didn't they already announce that enemy fetches will be reprinted in Modern Horizons 2?

Yeah. Let's just hope it'll be a meaningful reprint this time and it's not a super limited print ala jumpstart.

rock out with your stock out

White mythic: costs 6, cost can be lowered sometimes, activated ability costs 4 colors to put something into your hand maybe

Blue mythic: costs 2, gives instant value for no extra cost, but you can pay extra costs for even more instant value.

The Selesnya one fetches a basic Plains and Forest when it ETB and prevents players from paying life or sacrificing permanents to cast cards or activate abilities.

Also, this is a fun, goofy card I don't think I've seen brought up.
