varies from tech to tech and from work to work, really

generally the attitude cyberpunk has towards stuff like that is, it's cool in and of itself but it tends to either lead to or stem from really hosed up societal issues

The uruk-hai defender has logged on.

Vice posted:

A camera slowly stalks a woman walking to her SUV in a desolate, empty parking garage. “If question 1 passes in Massachusetts, anyone could access the most personal data stored in your vehicle,” a narrator says. “Domestic violence advocates say a sexual predator could use the data to stalk their victims. Pinpoint exactly where you are. Whether you are alone …” The woman’s keys jingle as she approaches her car. The camera gets closer. The woman whips her head around. The stalker has found her. The screen flashes to black. “Vote NO on 1,” the narrator says.

The Alliance for Automotive Innovation, which represents nearly every major auto manufacturer in the United States, is funding this and a series of other TV ads like it to scare Massachusetts residents into voting against a ballot measure that would expand the state’s already existing right to repair law to ensure that you can continue to get your car fixed by anyone you want. The ads heavily imply—and at times state outright—that the legislation would somehow lead women to be stalked and sexually assaulted, a charge that cybersecurity experts say has no grounding in reality. Instead, the auto industry wants to ensure that when your car breaks, you have to take it to a manufacturer “authorized” mechanic or the dealer itself.

Four grams of Zyklon B, a pesticide made from cyanide largely used in prison camps of Auschwitz and Oranienburg, are enough to cause a dreadful death.

Jews, gypsies, gays and every individual who showed any hint of dissidence in front of the Aryan postulates were the right candidates for confinement and extermination just like a plague of insects and rodents.

During the Nazi barbarism years, all those people were considered sub-human beings who had to be erased from the world. They were not women, men or children any more. They were infectious rats who were putting in danger the German utopia and had to be treated as rats.

How do we deal with rats? Using poison, of course.

1945 Tiger tank paint jobs sound like a wild topic given the Nazi logistics and acquisition were a hilarious joke and I bet some meth addicted party members had some wild arguments over exactly what shade of grey they should be

Up until this point it looked like a terrible terrible PR campaign, trying to sell an edgy product. If they had tried to be much more tasteful about the whole thing, and presented this new book/product as more of an art idea, it probably would have gone over much better. However the content of these books is just as bad:

Creating a scale model of a gas chamber
How to properly model mass graves
How to paint a junkie shooting up
How to accurately create a diorama involving a drowned child

That's actually really good marketing, they're making the most accurate and damaging criticism of their group into a joke to deflate their opponents' arguments. If you'd like to see how well it's worked, allow me to refer you to November 2016

Out of thread context, yeah that's pretty bad.

In thread context, "structurally and thematically this is possibly the worst copywriting I have ever seen: [a relatively inoffensive sign]" directly after the dizzying heights of "How do we deal with rats? also here's instructions on how to make your mass grave look realistic" made me laugh so hard I cried.

Yeah I guess that's what I'm saying. it seems like a weak attempt to be like "this place is like home! its comfy!" and is just oblivious how sad work/home separation lines being blurred is. But the tweet made it out to be some sin against humanity. i thought I was missing something

I wonder when games like this will start realistically depicting life.

For example, instead of wearing a black and white striped shirt, mask, and knit cap, the criminal should just look like Matt Lauer.

The usual employer move is to blather on about the importance of achieving a good work-life balance, because that's what they're supposed to do, while simultaneously organizing the work in such a way that said balance is impossible to achieve in practice.
