Be it they are heartless fucks or they need to look at the bigger picture, I don;t know the answer, but in my life time they have never care about people, funny they start caring now when their is power to be projected onto people.

Eh, as cyclists there are definitely times when my wife and I haven't ridden somewhere because of dealing with helmet hair at the other end. Not to mention that there are many times I would have hired a bike to get around town but haven't because there either weren't helmets with the hire bikes, or the ones that were there looked like you'd instantly catch something from putting them on your head.

(This isn't intended to be a pro and anti helmet laws observation on my part)

Breakfast Burrito

i am pro cycling infrastructure and think that helmet laws are a distraction from that as the real issue because i don't feel nearly safe enough riding anywhere i do to go without a helmet because the paths inevitably require me to be on a main road at some point. when i lived in the netherlands i would mostly go helmetless because the infratruscture was so good, everybody rode and i rarely if ever had to ride anywhere where cars were, as cars were effectively banned from the town centre.

actually get that dutch ghoul back in here i bet he has a good opinion on this

The old and vulnerable are gonna die from this, it is a fact. We can't stop it. Society is too interconnected. You can eat poo poo and die at any speed on a bicycle. Always wear a helmet.

The only exception I'd say is legitimate is the hire bikes because if you're riding one of those you're almost guaranteed to be somewhere flat and paved, and the bikes are step-throughs so you have to really do something stupid to actually fall off one.

If you're near cars you should be wearing a helmet. I've been hit twice and the helmet hit the ground hard on both occasions

I got a question? how long are you all willing for you lives to be controlled like this? Is there a point when you are gonna say yeah enough is enough, this is not gonna work, we need another plan? Or are you all willing to have this happen indefinitely with no end in sight. How many lives is worth saving if lives aren't being lived and being put on hold indefinetly? There has to be point where people go yeah nah, gently caress this. 6 months, 2 years, 5 years, 10 years, how long? There is a significant part of our society who think that not living your life is worse than death, are they in the wrong and why so?
At the start they were saying maybe a vaccine would be ready in 18 months, so I figured I'd wait that long and maybe by that point they'll have figured out they can't make one and I'll just go back to living my life but at increased risk of I or someone I love dying, or maybe we'll be lucky and life can go back to almost the way it was.

Clearly some people can't stand not going out multiple times per week though, and probably won't be prepared to wait that long.
