yeah. in my current game i had two de facto kingdoms but only one that was properly formed. on succession my two most senior children each received one kingdom.

This only happens with confederate partition. With normal or high partition, a new title won’t be created, so your heir will keep control of the unincorporated kingdom.

But yeah for my personal education, what's the difference between the "Invade Kingdom" CB that says it's once in a lifetime versus the Subjugate CB which I was able to use against a king?

If it’s anything like ck2 subjugation makes them your vassal and they keep all their land while invasions let you seize every holding you siege down during the war.

Invade kingdom gives you all the titles, whereas subjugate leaves all the titles intact.

Huh? An enemy army moved my capital but couldn't siege it because the garrison had more men. Cool! Maybe for one war I don't have the annoying army micro dance. So I go one sieging his capital. Except a month later somehow my garrison lost ~100 men and now he's halfway to taking my capital. I have no idea how that happened.

Probably an event during the siege like desertion or running out of food. They don't pop up like they did in CK2 but as far as I can tell something similar is in place.

So I thought creating a religion where having a feast is pious would be a good way to make stress a non-mechanic, and give me essentially free opinion with my vassals, and while it did do that almost all of my vassals are now obese.

At least it seems to help the religion spread pretty well I guess.

That couldn't have been the case though because like I said they didn't have enough men to start a siege in the first place.

One of my vassals rebelled and managed to siege down one of my holdings, imprisoning my heir and backup-heir. I won the war and now she's in my prison. She refuses ransom, how do I get my children back?

Also is there any way to turn off auto-pause on important events?

Edit: Revoking all her titles did it. Good thing she only had three holdings.

Maybe they could add early Primogeniture or other systems something to toggle in the difficulty settings/game rules when you start a new game. Or maybe there is already something like that.

Oh yeah, primogeniture showing up earlier in the techs would be a good difficulty option. Maybe make partition a tribal tech and high partition a early medieval tech with that option enabled? And then primogeniture being a high medieval tech.

It keeps the progression while making it more of a midgame than endgame thing, with it still coming a little easier with a later start.

Has anyone found a way to search vassal contracts? I picked up a vassal somewhere in my empire with coinage rights and a mandatory council seat, but I have no idea who it is. Realm size is 106 so I'm not eager to manually check everyone.

the best way, at least with mandatory council seat, seems to be to wait for the vassal in question to use the privilege. they don't exercise it very often but you'll know when you see it. they will be protected from being thrown off for ~10 yrs.

Winning battles and taking their territory helps a lot yeah. I got some 20-30% warscore from grabbing the regions around the pope.

I ended up surrendering out though, because churning through a megawar and ending up 500-1000+ gold in debt just wasn't that appealing.
But I had the luck of the crusade being for the kingdom of england title, so as a 'rest of england' kind of viking, I only really lost 3 counties or so.

But yeah, it's pretty much just a giant slog of attrition, with doomstacks coalescing pretty quick once it actually happens.

Odd tangent, but has anyone been able to lose weight?
It is kind of strange that you take the decision to lose weight, take a pretty notable stress penalty... and then nothing.
It's been around a decade and a half, and I expected atleast like, an event or something to pop up.

I get that it's supposed to be a pretty sizeable penalty, but it also feels strange that you don't get events for stuff like 'hire a trainer / rumors of a cook that makes healthy food.' etc.
I'd vaguely expect something like throwing a feast and then the guests being annoyed that you're serving healthy things instead of the normal stuff, etc etc.

But I suppose that is one of the bigger differences between CK2+8 years of dlc and patches + mods and CK3: There's a lot lot lot fewer events to go around in general.

Have you had a mental break since you took that decision? One of the potential stress relief traits you can get from mental breaks is "athletic" (which is pretty great - you get a decision where you lose stress in exchange for a minor general opinion penalty for a year because you smell sweaty from working out so much), and I wouldn't be surprised if having taken the decision to lose weight makes this more likely to be presented as an option.

I had one, which ended up with me going profligate/-10% income, since then I've been keeping an eye on his stress level to avoid further breaks.
I guess I'll step off the stress management and see if I can't game the breaks a bit then. (Or maybe like half a dozen relatives will die at once and I'll get slammed straight into a high stress level regardless.)
