the commute functions okay as a literal physical barrier between home life and work life which is nice but I think I can come up with other barriers that don't make me spend an hour or more a day driving

well second last place, i'm assuming last place is "your rear end is fired" even if they didn't state it outright

commuting on bart is great if you can do it off peak hours, otherwise waiting to sardine in with a bike on a car that barely has enough room for it around 5-6 pm would typically extend my 45 min trip home into 2 hours. I don't miss that aspect of it, but it's been nice the few times I need to get to work when I'm not wfh now that they are running at like 10-20% capacity lol

its absolutely the strategy of capital and attitude of reactionaries but its still funny bc they think normalcy can be achieved with a mindset tweak.

postive. the word you're looking for is postive.

the idea of toxic positivity was basically born fully formed from the heads of consultants and those people who write books on mangement. As someone now on two separate antidepressants and likely on schedule for some ADHD pills as a chaser, it's one of the fastest ways to get my blood boiling.

yeah, i could not bring myself to say positive. "oh, we fired the project manager and nobody replaced them for months? obviously the reason we are at 14% margin instead of 20% on this project is lack of a growth mindset"

We were being told at one point that a piece of software we had purchased was going to start generating multiple statements for thousands of our customers who had previously only gotten one. When I asked about "so wait, this is a company X product, we do this company X way, and now you're telling me company X doesn't support this?" The woman I was talking to actually said to me "oh, we support this, just not in this way." Then you don't loving support it, do you?

The year is 2015. Steeped in national debt, the United States reluctantly allows the Walt Disney Company to purchase the entire peninsula of Florida in the largest geographic acquisition since the Louisiana Purchase. Under its new president, formerly-ousted CEO Michael Eisner, the newly-sovereign state is renamed Los Disneys. Your job is to infiltrate the Magic Kingdom, blasting your way through animatronic pirates, holographic ghosts, tourists, security guards and even Mickey himself in an attempt to seek and destroy the frozen head of Walt Disney. However, doing so inadvertently triggers Eisner’s doomsday device… unless you can stop it.

They're surrounded with propaganda telling them only office jobs are real jobs so they have to pretend to be more useless to see themselves as contributing to society, even though the work of a gymnast entertainer is far more demanding than the work of a lifestyle coach
