In the future you can just disable "automatically parse URLs" for NWS mp4s and they won't embed, you won't have to change the file extension or anything like that

How hard is it to make (seemingly) small changes? Interestingly, text-to-speech capitalized “awful” in the previous paragraph. It doesn’t get poo poo else right, but somehow it knew that was a proper noun.

I find it decent to hack on, but I don’t really know Swift, so it can be slow going as I cargo-cult up whatever pattern I’m looking for. Fun way to learn, though, and pokeyman is one of the best project owners I’ve ever worked with.

What’s the quote from a zoo keeper who talks about different apes finding a screw driver?

From this very thread, at least a copy of it:Sagebrush posted:there's a good quote (maybe in this thread!) from a primate researcher who's like And/or Dr. Red Ranger posted:So the ancient SA lore goes, once a zookeeper liked to describe the temperament of the various great apes at his zoo with the humble screwdriver. If a screwdriver was inadvertently dropped into the gorilla paddock by a workman, the animals would be reasonably expected to investigate the tool, and eventually become bored. Were said screwdriver left in the chimpanzee pen overnight, by morning there would be no more live chimpanzees as the screwdriver would be immediately recognized as an implement of murder. However, should the screwdriver be left with the humble, sagely orangutans, by morning there would also be none left. Not because they had killed each other, but because they would use it to build a rocket out of the various toys and structures around them and escape to the moon. I’ve never worn shoes in the house or know anyone who has, but even so my friend’s wife insists, each time we come over, that we take our shoes off and apologizes profusely each time for the request, despite telling her multiple times that ‘yeah we do that too’. Who doesn’t take off their shoes?!

I prefer not to wear shoes inside but i recently got a puppy with very sharp teeth who sees feet as playthings so for the next several weeks, it's shoes-on time.

When I lived in the country it was pretty normal to take your shoes off inside, for fairly obvious reasons that they're usually expected to be covered in dirt. In the city, not so much.

Snowglobe of Doom posted:Here in Australia if you take your shoes off and leave them unattended for even 30 seconds they will instantly fill up with horrifically poisonous snakes or spiders Things I've gleaned about Australia from SA: 1. Don't take off your shoes or don't wear shoes. (Because spiders, snakes.) 2. Don't sit on the toilet. Better to hover over it. (See above.) 3. Don't stand under trees you don't recognize the species of. (Spiders, snakes, caustic tree juice, stinging leaves, falling nuts.) 4. Don't dawdle near murky water, but I'm used to that one on account of the alligators. 5. Everything is half a second away from exploding into flames. Trees, wildlife, tradie utes. 6. If a man wearing heavy boots, shorts, and a florescent shirt punches you out of nowhere, chill. It's how they say hello. 7. Drive on the left or, you know, whatever. 8. Some of the wild animals are cuddly, said the man with seven fingers in total.
