Mail Day! In (hopefully for me) the last installment of my Playstation Parallel Port 3rd Party Hardware Series: Let's Play Gameboy with a Playstation! Completely Brand New In Box Yes, Shrek GBC is the only GB game of any sort I have handy to test Promising! Nope, this cart really isn't liked for whatever reason. It works fine in my GBA. On the other hand it DOES have it's own built in ROM! Rebound Mission. Now things are supposed to be in colour and with sound I assume. Not having any luck there. Might be due to importing this from the USA and it being an NTSC only fare. The monitor is HTSC but the two consoles I tested were PAL ones. I have two Jap PSXs to test, one that doesn't work and another which shall have it's own post soonish. Also a GB Flashcart from Aliexpress for another project is enroute so will have more hardware to test.

I imagine you'll have better luck with the flashcart. Clear GBC carts are totally incompatible with og GB hardware, and since this thing apparently came around before the GBC launch, I'm not surprised by its lack of support for them. With the blurb about colorisation on the box, though, I'm curious to see how it'd handle black-cart GB games.

Oh well time will tell. It's just a curiosity purchase for the collection.

A lot of Gameboy Color games were backwards compatible with the original GB, but some games were GB Color-only, like your test cart and likely won't work on that thing. It might have been a translation error/weird wording for supporting Super Gameboy color palettes.

promising carl posted:I wanted a lynx soooo bad as a kid. Deliberately opting for older/cheaper/less powerful tech and squeezing it as hard as possible is a major part of how Nintendo operates, though, and ultimately that approach is what allowed the game boy to trample its technically superior competition.

Desert Strike on Lynx ruled, as did the menu music for Batman Returns.

Bloody hell there are a lot of judgemental people itt. Linus is easy to categorise, he is the season 3 onwards of Top Gear. It's less about the reviews more trying to kill a Hilux. Anthony etc are co-hosts that even it out complimenting each other. If it was just Anthony you wouldn't get fun silly things like DYI heat sinks or more recently that early ultrawide as few could afford such a thing. LGR is easy listening radio. MVG is an digital archaeologist/Tomb Raider. Tech Connections is a museum curator. I have seen this guy mentioned, sort of Haynes manual on old Nintendo. If you like memory addresses and frame exploiting voodoo he has you covered. https://www.youtube.com/c/RetroGameMechanicsExplained "I kinda feel sad for people in the past".

I dont know why people get all wound up about Linus. He’s goofy but it’s balanced with Anthony. He does wacky things like buy ancient widescreen rear projection monitors, but also does serious reviews and as far as I can tell he isn’t a nazi. This is as much as you can ask for in 2020
