Nenonen posted:That's a moose. Nope, Rocky Mountain Elk. And you should definitely avoid petting them, because while they seem nonchalant elk can and will gently caress you up if you get on their bad side.

Man, I thought that car was getting jacked, and the owner had one of those flame thrower things that were apparently a thing in South Africa as a theft deterrent.

iroc.dis posted:Its National Construction Safety Week this week. Any other safety goons doing anything special? None of my projects are big enough to warrant any cool vendor demos so I'm just giving talks at them as I make my visits. I had a student who worked roof construction and fell off a roof because, as he told it, one of the young guys didn't install the fall protection correctly and when he fell, it did nothing. He landed on his ankle in such a way that "it exploded like a grenade." As he told me, his ankle basically didn't exist anymore and most of his surgeries were to remove bone fragments and install pint that would keep his foot from flopping around.

Is that like one of those emergency stop things for runaway trucks? I wanna ask how often it happens that you need a full set up, but... I guess the answer is "At least twice a day"

Lots going on there - 4 cars involved in the accident, black hat guy continues to be a badass and drags a body from the second car, every door on fire car appears to not be working, driver's feet are on the dashboard, 2 other windows had to be smashed out on the other side. e: and the young guy trying to do a badass window kick at the end, failing, and just walking off. I assume the impact that started the fire has twisted the frame enough to jam all the doors shut.

A buddy of mine grew up in Alaska and a lot of people, when learning this fact, have asked him if he was scared of the bears there. He always replied that they never worried about bears, it was the moose that everyone would freak out about. Fun fact: Moose like to dive, up to 20 feet, to eat weeds at the bottoms of lakes and ponds.
