My only prior experience with moving (these same cats) was transatlantic; in 1970 that meant that they were sedated, installed in heavy wooden crates, and put in the hold. That was loving nerve-racking

My old Great Dane once found a random soother on a walk and carried it with her all the way home. I'll have to go digging for the pictures, but they were pretty amazing.

We inherited an outdoor cat with our house that does this. Here he is. We were told he doesn't like humans and would almost certainly bail once new people moved in. Here he is hating humans. It took us living there and feeding him for about 2 weeks before he'd want to come in every night for pets and brushing. He sites on a lap, purrs and naps the whole time. He's ~13 years old and an incredible mouser. He's brought us a catfish, ~3 decapitated squirrels and a half dozen or so lizards.

We had a cat that caught, killed, and left a bat in the dog's water dish. I maintain he was sending a powerful message he also let loose a live squirrel in our basement and watched as we caught it with a fish net. Fuckin cat hazardousmouse has a new favorite as of 00:17 on Sep 20, 2020 |

They start out bringing back dead things, then less dead things. She apparently had every faith in your capabilities if she skipped the mortally wounded prey stage. I'm sure she was duly pleased with this decision given your success.

There are a lot of people that don’t understand that being somewhat quiet and respecting a cat’s personal space make cats choose to adopt you. Congratulations on your new prey monster. hazardousmouse posted:We had a cat that caught, killed, and left a bat in the dog's water dish. Your cat thought you were smart enough to join the advanced hunting 101 class! cat article posted:Cats learn through experience and traditionally they are raised by their mothers. This involves teaching the kittens how to look after themselves, including how to catch prey. The mother educates her young gradually, starting off by bringing back dead prey for the kittens to eat. Next she will bring back live (but rather disheveled) prey for the offspring to kill themselves, and eventually when they’re ready, she will take her young out and show them how to hunt. There have also been documented examples of female cats doing this for young that do not belong to them. Bored has a new favorite as of 02:59 on Sep 20, 2020 |
