I got a ladder like that (I can use it as a step ladder and an extension ladder) and I hate it because it's heavy and cumbersome and am surprised that I haven't ended up like that.

He's standing on the part still attached to the crane, but that's okay because the weight of his balls exceed the lifting ability of the crane. Adam Savage built a cart/stand for a sander and planer. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8PEc5blz_fY So OF COURSE he builds out the frame then demonstrates setting up the planer, but picking it up off the cart, stepping ONTO THE CART WITH NON-LOCKED WHEELS, and sets it on top.
