Yep, there was a news piece somewhere talking to the people who ran the account. They said they went that way because how the hell do you get people to pay attention to such a boring subject matter as product recalls and basic consumer\holiday safety? (Don't burn down your house frying a turkey.) It works, people follow for the wisdom of squirrels but accidentally hear about unsafe products. My personal favorite: e: Well gently caress, there it is. \/\/\/

No one really knows who we are. What can I do that’s really going to make them care and that’s really going to change the culture and the conversation about safety in the home?” e: f, b....badly

Ok now I get why our insurance only covers us to 10 feet up palm trees. And yeah chainsaws definitely ain’t to be hosed with, one of our guys cut into his leg on day 1 on the job and had to be rushed to the ER. This is why I stay indoors.

So film, and especially slapstick comedy in film, predates wide adoption of the automobile. Banana peels were used as a stand in for manure when people slipped on them because it would have been too crass to show people slipping on horse poo poo.

Son of Rodney posted:I don't get the Twitter algo thing at all at I'm getting confused and cranky!! Basically the Twitter algorithm thing is that Twitter's facial recognition algorithm sucks rear end at recognizing Black people as...well people. People did a bunch of testing and it was pretty consistent that when Twitter crops a pic, it goes for the lightest skinned person. This is pretty common for facial recognition algorithms because Tech as an industry has a massive allergy about reviewing it's past, and this is a super loving common thing that pops up all of the time. But hey, got to reinvent the wheel. This lead to more experimenting and thus the memes. The idea behind the meme is to use a long picture and see what Twitter picks. And the facial algorithm seems to constantly make the worst choice.
