Mr Interweb posted:does it matter? 95% of the websites i frequent have developed adblock detectors. I haven't come across a site yet that has an anti ad blocker I can't get around. For 99% of sites I don't need to do poo poo for the other 1% it takes like 1m to get it to go away. Works on paywalls too.

I learned when imgur rolled out their adblock detector, that ublock had feature to force a javascript variable to always be a certain value, no matter what code executed. While you might need an ad hoc rule for every single site, that covers a lot of anti adblock

honestly I just wanted to make a humorous reply that someone could bounce another humorous reply off of, the real forums endgame isn't getting quoted it's getting quoted then having that post get quoted ad nauseum, it's like a combo bonus except instead of points you get a sensible chuckle and possibly a probe

Any problem that we have in our society that a business can make money doing, it belongs in the private sector. Business could be doing a lot more in certain areas, if it was allowed to, like education and health care. Those are very highly regulated businesses. And so, in some sense, you have a lot more crony capitalism in highly regulated industries. looooool yes, the real problems with education and health care are that the government is too involved in it and should let the private sector run wild of course, what businesses have to pay people has nothing to do with what they can afford why would I think a job's wages has any impact on poverty c'mon now everybody knows people make the real money in the stock market anyway, jobs are a hobby

It's because most modern capitalists are not explicitly colonialist in their personal views, so when you see a guy using the same talking points that were used to justify the Belgian Congo to justify his own business practices it's really jarring.

I have a lot of things I'd like to touch on with you, and I don't want to take too much of your time, so let's jump right in. In doing some research, I found you being referred to as an "ex-leftist libertarian". I thought that a very odd phrase, since many individuals come to the freedom philosophy from a left perspective -- and lots of pro-freedom people are more concerned with personal and social issues than economic ones; that's generally considered to be a "leftist" slant. What do you think of that phrase? Does it fit you?
