While that is true, a screwdriver or a swiss-army penknife would be more useful than about half the poo poo he was carrying.

Well, that would explain things since I registered in 2007 thanks to the Kuenbu thread, speaking of sagas.

What "saga" has had the most dedicated threads on a single subject I wonder? I think there were FOUR dollfucker threads.

I guess "Lowtax Beats Women" shattered that record but I don't recall too many multiple threads dealing with the same subject/person.

There were quite a few CAD mock threads spread between GBS and BSS. Dunno quite how many, but probably 6+. I don't think it really died, just got sublimated into various webcomic mock threads after buckers got too boring to laugh at.

IIRC it started in GBS about a week before Loss dropped and moved to BSS at some point a few years in when it started dying down/the GBS mods got sick of dealing with WebDog’s internet detectivery.

It's fine.
Don't worry about it.
The CAD threads started in GBS when loss.jpg happened then moved into BSS eventually.

They were later banned from BSS after the comic itself slumped into mediocrity and the thread had to scrabble for anything to talk about. So they started getting mad at Buckley for his Yorkshire Terrier dying from a throat collapse because it had a small choke chain on and the breed is prone to the condition anyway, which isn't a good idea but it's really not healthy to get worked up at a bad-comic-maker over it.

GBS 2.0 started up not long after, so since it was no rulez a new CAD thread was opened there. It gradually shifted into a broader mock thread of any comics people felt like reposting, but was considered kind of dire and moved to the crew chat BYOB subforum to chill out, which it mostly did and now it's kind of a mock thread but more just posting any comics to discuss.

Hogge Wild tried to get it shut down for reposting copyrighted comics in some grudge match so they stick to webcomics and gray area comics that wouldn't get DCMA'd as aggesively now, as far as I know.

E- as far mock threads go, the newspaper comic threads are probably the most continuously-running? They're for sharing good and bad newspaper strips past and present, which might help them from devolving into hate ciriclejerks constantly.

Fishmech was terrible because once they decided that your thread didn't match the american orthodoxy they'd never ever leave it and just constantly argue more and more pedantic poo poo for weeks at a time. If you've never been fishmech'd, consider yourself lucky. Luckily they generally only posted about the nerdiest of nerd stuff.

I remember toward the end looking up their posting in the map thread to find they had been arguing that exact opposite position a few years before. And another time they copied a definition that I'd written for a Wikipedia article except they added a bit on the end that made it wrong, in order to support their argument.

This site is immeasurably better for them being gone.

A lot of GoonSquads would do this to pubbies looking to join too. You'd get an introduction thread in GBS with someone saying "X Goons sent me" and they'd be out ten dollars

The Terrible Webcomics thread saga was more involved than that. Off the top of my head I can't be sure about the exact order things happened in, but it got moved/closed/restarted several times before finally landing in CCCC. I think it spent some time in BYOB proper, was moved to BSS, and I think was back in GBS for a bit, too. It's been a general webcomics thread for several years now, and some iterations of it are still available aside from the one that got nuked when Hogge Wilde was carrying out their weird vendetta against it.

The CCCC bad webcomics thread was nuked and rebooted several years ago because it had basically become a glorified :filez: thread where people were posting published graphic novels in their entirety since even they needed something else to talk about after a decade of chortling at loss.jpeg.

Yeah, I remember it being tossed around a bunch and rebooted before it was dropped in CCCC as a kind of final warning to cool off. But I wasn't keeping close track of it then, so I wouldn't be able to list off every version that was binned before the GBS 2.0 "no sincere posting about how you like a thing" finally wore off on it.
