I mean, if you're a successful actress and you go out of the house in a skirt and without underwear, knowing that paparazzi are just waiting for opportunities like this and that it has happened many times before, then there's really nobody you can blame for it but yourself.
It's giving me stuff for at least one product that I have played for eight minutes total, so the minimum playtime thing is either wrong or depends on what the publisher set up for that title.

Stickers are free game, wallpapers and emoticons are not.

However the point shop was the last nail in the coffin for having fun with the marketplace and making Steambux off some lucky rolls.

Is this Star Wars Squadrons game going to be available on their EA Play thing? Seems like paying $5 to try the game for a month is a real good deal if so.

only in the Premiere tier which costs more, most likely. that's their standard MO and they also don't put every game immediately on EA Play either

It's probably not for you, the first area reasonably demonstrates what the game is like.

You get other weapons that change the combat a little bit but not a ton so if the basic loop of Do Fights. Get Power Ups That Maybe Do A Debuff, Buy A Rug For The Hub didn't grab you I'm not sure they'd make a huge difference

it's probably going to be 100 runs before you're anywhere close to maybe possibly exhausting content, if you're talking about writing and the rest of the pre-game show (character interactions, decorating the House, roguelite metaprog crap, etc)

In gameplay terms that was one of four zones (well, three and 1/2, kinda?) in a single run. If that was your first run it wouldn't have bothered setting up a lot of mechanics yet - hammers, chaos gates, most gods - so I'd say you missed a lot of "interesting" stuff there

But if the combat fundamentally bores you then, well, it's not for you

But yeah if the core gameplay loop doesn't grab you then it's not the game for you.

Thanks for the replies, all. I'd died a couple times before that and unlocked some additional weapons and tried them out. Hated using the bow with a gamepad, the other - a big sword maybe? - didn't feel especially fun either. The whole series of tiny rooms with no real connection to each other and an arbitrary number of respawning enemies just didn't grab me. Maybe if the rooms get bigger and more interesting later it could be worth giving another shot at some point. Otherwise I'll probably just leave it.

And not simple 1 -> 2 -> 3 dialog. There are so many unique triggers that change what they say depending on previously selected boons that run, how far you progressed in your previous run, amongst other things.

I was about to say, I like just queuing up a few projects in RimWorld and letting it run in the background while I fold laundry or something, it's really relaxing watching people milling about and vibing to the music. It takes a little while to get your colony to a point where it's set-it-and-forget-it though.

The PERFECT game for this, however, is probably Crusader Kings III. It lets you just start a game as an observer and watch the world and its rulers and borders change over time. If at any point you feel like jumping in, you can select any one of the hundreds of leaders on the map and start playing as them from that point in time.

Nope. I think the gameplay is rear end, I played it a bunch because I like Supergiant's art and worldbuilding, but the gameplay never became fun. I do have a burning hatred for 2d games that revolve around iframe dodging though.

just finished Mafia Remake. It's very good. I don't like all the changes they did, the original had a much better sense of time and the actual impact of what you did within the story, but the changes they made are good in their own way. Even if I found the the original character better suited, the presentation of the struggle of each one of them is very well done in the remake, maybe better as in the original. Especially Paulie and Sam are better represented, making their choices more believable.

I really like the character capture and shading, it's much better as in Mafia 3. Facial expressions are very well done, which is essential given the focus on a more ore less emotional storyline. It also has less technical hicups as M3 but their engine is still not that great, got a lot of AA ghosting going on and you can't have detail very far away. But FPS were good, and the general scenery looked pretty.

Can you expound on how AoE2 does this? I played AoE2 way back when and have since fallen out with RTSs so I never picked it back up...but I'm in a similar situation where I crave a game that I can watch without significant input, besides an idler/clicker game.

Not exactly the best answer but I love how much non-campaign maps in Infested Planet allowed you to often reach a sort of standstill where you could turtle endlessly with defenses of turrets, emplacements and easily healed troops, until you were ready to advance with an attack plan on the next hive. Sometimes, especially when buzzed, I would just put on Terran music from Starcraft 1 and just watch the endless swarms of bugs get destroyed by an endless barrage of bullets.

(Later/harder 'mutations' of hives would occasionally spawn specialist waves that necessitate direct attention, so it's not perfect all the time, but I did find such standstills cathartic)

(At least with definitive edition) Just set the Player to an AI when setting up the game. You'll share vision with whoever is in slot 1 and they'll control all the units. You actually can still issue orders as well though the AI will override them if it wants to. The game also include the AI's from the original and the HD edition, so you can fiddle with some themed battle stuff if you're up to it
