Do you really think Sanders (who is notably not that great at debating and has a tendency to repeatedly return to his stump speech when flustered) would have done any better against Trump's bullshit tsunami?

I think people seem mostly annoyed that joe biden's apparent entire pitch is "I'm not donald trump" which seems like a rather short term political plan?

Like people want improvements, not just... managed decline? No we can't support BLM, no we can't support radical climate action, you must just choose a slow suffocation rather than a quick drowning and if you don't you're the problem.

I think getting mad at people for being absolutely sick of that being politics for their entire lives and every meager victory, every paltry holding action being fought with the enthusiasm of a wet rag while any attempt at principled, positive improvement is crushed and belittled as laughable idealism is just... Like who is responsible for that burnout? Who is responsible for people feeling utterly apathetic at only ever being offered "we're not the worse guys" as a choice? How long can that be sustained?

Biden might well win, but if he goes on to spend his term suppressing BLM protests and delaying climate action what's 2024 gonna be like? What are the lives of the people you want to vote for him gonna be like? Where is the future gonna be? How long can people offered nothing positive be blamed?

You can't make a future just yelling at people who want something and are told from all quarters "no you can't have anything, but vote for my guy!"

If biden doesn't get through, or if it's too close for comfort, or if 2024 flips back to someone who will do exactly what trump does, who is going to be to blame? If people watch the debates and come away with the impression that everything is just hosed or that biden doesn't support them, why is that not his fault?

He hasn't said, or done, anything to deserve my vote.

Even if he’s a dastardly Clintonian or Obamacrat, the status quo they set out was better than Trump sabotaging every federal agency, stacking the judiciary, undoing all the EPA regulations he could, and actively loving over everyone while grifting his way through 4 years.

I can’t begin to comprehend why you feel a candidate must act as your personal sock puppet for legislation to justify voting against the guy currently dismantling democracy by sabotaging voting, encouraging militias to “watch” the polls, and preemptively declaring he won’t cede power.

What? You want cops to just stop shooting unarmed people? Next you are going to ask for the world! Stop being so selfish and accept incremental change ok? How about instead of “don’t shoot unarmed people” we go with “shoot them in the leg?”

"personal sock puppet" (lol) seems to imply that I'm refusing to vote for Biden because he didn't do every little thing I wanted. The fact is, Biden isn't promising to do anything at all (he won't even ban fracking for fucks sake), and you're acting as though I should be grateful to vote for him.

The Democrats can either start actually offering to do things we want (instead of going along and voting for Trump's legislative agenda as they have been doing) or they can go in the dustbin of history and (hopefully) get replaced by something better.

Stop doing this, it’s lovely. I loving hate Joe Biden but I’m gonna vote for him, but it is totally understandable for Americans to think, in this moment in time especially, that we’re hosed. People aren’t fantasizing that things are really bad. Things are really loving bad and voting for Joe Biden is literally the least I can do and there’s a good chance his presidency will amount to poo poo and we’re even closer to complete disaster. This isn’t catastrophizing, this is recognizing trends in our country and where those logically lead.

If Republican chuds hear from Biden's mouth that he doesn't want to defund the police or take away their guns, they might see a way out. Not all of Trump's base is made of raving lunatics who are only in it for the lols. Some of them want a life raft.

Lmfao are you serious?

Republicans are going to vote for the Republican.

The whole point of Trump constantly saying "you're controlled by the radical left! you support [thing left likes]!" was to get him to constantly deny it. The point is to get Sanders voters/leftists who have resigned themselves to voting for Biden to stay home.
