I found out Santa wasn't real in preschool and thoroughly enjoyed trying to ruin it for everyone else.

Tiggum posted:Santa Claus, the tooth fair, Easter bunny, etc. are bad. If I don't pretend that these particular fictional beings are real, somehow I'm the arsehole even though you're the one lying to your kids? With religious stuff there's an easy out because no one's pretending other religions don't exist, so if a kid asks me if Jesus is real I can just say that some people believe he is and some people don't. But Santa? Nah, I've got to either lie or weasel my way out of it or I'm ruining Christmas. And all for what? You think kids need to be told stuff is real to enjoy it? No one's going around telling kids that Spider-Man's real but that doesn't seem to bother them. You can just tell a tiggum post. Beep boop beep boop normal good human interaction is bad and illogical why are not the humans good and logical like me beep boop beep all food is bad nutrient paste is the only good food beep beep beep

I am like 800 years old and had no idea that Big Ben is supposed to be just the bell. Do people actually call the rest of it Elizabeth Tower? Speaking of towers, I will call Sears Tower that til I die, idgaf if it's Willis Tower now. I've only been to Chicago a couple times but for some reason I am incredibly stubborn about this.

People lie all the time, about minor and major things. Maybe the lies about holiday mascots are just preparing kids for the cutthroat social interactions they're going to have to navigate when they're older.

"Don't lie to children" is such an absurd rule. A kid says he wants to be an astronaut, and you're supposed to tell them the truth? You're supposed to look that child in the eyes and say there probably won't be a space program in ten years, the best life they can realistically hope for is being a security guard for one of the eco domes because at least then they'll be the one doing the beating not the one getting beaten, and they'll have an apartment just outside the dome so they'll get to breathe the outflow from the dome at night instead of having to choose between paying for an air hookup in their shack or dying at age 35 from cumulative methane poisoning? Because that's what Tiggum does!

teaching younger children is like 100 times harder than older children and should get higher pay, not lower. teaching a 17 year old is easy, just give them a task to do. with an 11 year old you have to like sing songs and poo poo which is why i cant really do it and only want to teach the older ones because gently caress singing songs

its annoying when you do teacher training, because the younger ones are seen as "easy mode" when really theyre much harder, so teachers often start out with the younger classes when it'd really be best to start with almost-adults and work your way down

It's okay to lie to children because everyone under 18 isn't an actual person.

I'm pretty sure that universally ends at like, age 8 at most.

Yeah if you sing to a class of 11 year olds they'd film you and put you on youtube and you'd become the lastest embarrassing meme

We were starting to have “boyfriends” and “girlfriends” at 11 and morphing into rebellious teens. I cannot imagine my class tolerating a lame rear end adult singing rhymes at us.
