I know I post a lotta dumb poo poo here, but I'm listening to, what I truly believe to be, one of the most beautiful albums of all time. Black Woman by Sonny Sharrock. If you're a fan of Mr. Bungle, Naked City, Einstürzende Neubauten, Sonic Youth, early Boredoms, etc. you should seriously listen to this album. Fun fact, Sonny Sharrock composed the soundtrack for Space Ghost Coast to Coast (the episode Sharrock is a tribute to him) and it was the last project he finished before his death. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VUyyQ7hQ7_U

take the moon posted:im dumb. what even is trance It's like, imagine house music with all the funk removed. It's what you used to call EDM before dubstep was invented. You couldn't really name an actual trance track because the whole point was just take a bunch of mdma and whoa suddenly its Tuesday and this beat is still going on somehow? |

I don't listen to too much EDM, but I remember my first exposure to the genre, in middle school at a record store with a friend, he picks up Bible of Dreams by Juno Reactor. I'd never heard of it, his older cousin was into them tho, he described it as psy-trance. What was really funny about it was that later when I wanted to listen to his Juno CD he told me we could, but that he was almost certainly going to fall asleep, as he found that CD almost impossible to listen to more than a few minutes without succumbing to sleep. Sure enough, I think I had a comment on the second track, and when I turned to say it he was already unconscious. Anyway, here's my favorite track off that record. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v8LY2VgiikE

ok so this song means a lot to me This dude, who went by Betwixt&Between before he apparently took his life, made the loving best freestye/hardcore over here in Japan. And this song, tho the youtube uploads always seem to have a bit too much treble in the uploads, is maybe the best song I've heard since I moved here over a decade ago. It is powerful as all hell to me and if/when I ever work up the courage to do a public dj set, this will be my closer. I just, uuuuugh. This song is everything to me. My life goal is to make something, somehow, someday, that makes someone feel as moved as this song does for me. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4YUtZj8X57Y https://giant.gfycat.com/ThoseAcrobaticCapybara.webm |

Here's almost everything in this thread in playlist form: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL21UsmM0ZrJrCZ4CRR26RyPXL3CjpM08Q I usually listen to music while driving or keeping busy with other stuff, so actually checking out all the music in this thread has been difficult. So i went through this whole thread backwards for the last... you know what, don't ask me how long this took ok?... while playing a game, adding every video to a playlist. i'm probably not the only person with this use case, so i thought id share it. I will keep it up to date for a while, checking maybe once a week. Also apparently "gently caress On The Beach - Powerviolence Forever" is considered music for children and is unable to be added to playlists lol Jinh fucked around with this message at 15:24 on Oct 18, 2020
