This reminds me of a little story I think of sometimes, maybe from this thread or elsewhere on SA or maybe some imagining. It's about a couple walking on a beach who pick up a crab, they put it down and it runs away and it just keeps accelerating in a straight line past the horizon. Is that real or have I got crab madness?

It's simple physics: crabs and the ocean experience a mutual attractive force, which is far more evident on the crab because of its smaller mass. The further one moves a crab from the ocean, the faster it will accelerate upon being released.
