https://youtu.be/G0PpmvqaYSU?t=1180 Twerk has a bit of a moan about being "marketed to" and *gasp* "commercialized", then takes aim at Crobbler for being condescending and not understanding the backers. You have to wonder, where have you been for the last eight years Mike? Chris Roberts clearly feels he doesn't owe you scrubs anything - you're just the suckers providing the money to help him make his dream game, become the Hollywood bigshot he clearly desperately wants to be, and finance his (ex-?)missus's path into the movies, he's not accountable to you in any way and shame on you for calling him out.

Someone revisited the sweaty absolver video... Ask the Devs: Is the physics refactor already in the game, and what is preventing CIG from upping the player count to 200 as told back in 2018? Chris claimed this: quote:the best is what's called sort of a phase batch model, which is you you know, update the physics. And what you do is use every single core you can use, and say you have ten thousand physics objects you distribute them to all these different cores, and they do that simulation, usually in their little islands. That because any objects that would be interacting with each other would be on one core. And so you you blast through that as much as possible, use all the computing power to resolve the physics. Then you do the update of the entities same way, and then you render same way. quote:That's on our plan, that's our that's our project plan. I'm just telling you the bits of tech that are going to enable, you know, this seamless universe. Lando's face at that bolded '200 or so' point. Jesus Christ. So Chris's physics refactor was added to the game back in December 2019. They tried pushing the player cap from 50 to 60 in a PTU test in January 2020. The current player cap is 50...

On the other hand it makes for a very nice soundstage to stream from and if he had a twitch career it would certainly make the case to any casual viewer that he was a very serious, professional game-player-person. There's a moment at like 3:53 where he shouts "Red Alert" and all his secondary stuff lights up and swaps to some fun imagery- he's also got a fog machine and laser light show. He's put some effort into the presentation, and I can respect that. On the other-other-hand he clearly doesn't have a twitch career because he's picked the nichest of the nice genres. I do want to turn some knobs and make bleep bloops though so I've been looking at a couple different, much cheaper, standalone synths / midi controllers as a way to get my feet wet instead. It is a mix of good ole sunk cost applied to their streaming work plus the natural barrier of change.

reverend crabhands posted:Some great bits in this. "Fidelity in remembering". Emi is the MVP of that long session, dropping straight talk non-stop like a champ. And then what happens? After grousing and ranting about Chris and CIG for half an hour, Twerk pivots 180 degrees in an eye blink and starts spewing defensive nonsense and historical revisionism like his old chump self, totally oblivious to his reversal. Twerk, Mike, whatever you wanna call yourself, your wife is spot on and you’re dead wrong. She may be “on the periphery” (her words) but she sees plain as day what you only occasionally discern and keep forgetting. And no, nobody in 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015 or 2016 bought into the project accepting upfront that delivery dates were meaningless, nor endorsing a blank check and infinite timeline for Chris to futz around to his heart’s content. If that was true then why did everyone — including you — get pissed at no Squadron slice at CitCon 206? Why did everyone get surly over 2017 waiting a year longer than expected for Alpha 3.0? Why is “Answer the Call” just shorthand for more Chris marketing BS? Why are backers pissed about the AMA and the gaming world and gaming press laughing at Chris again? Emi has it right. And her former supermarket coworkers had it right, too, even as you confuse your proximity to the project as enlightenment rather than desperate rationalizing. The irony is those gathered inside the Temple of Chris are the profane, and those outside of it the discerning and enlightened. It didn’t cost them a cent to see clearly what cost you thousands to miss.

And wow, an unexpected Phil Meller sighting. I missed that the first time. (That’s how boring the latest Squadron 42 update was I guess.) He’s been off the shows so long I didn’t even realize he was still there. The dude looks healthier than he did when he started, in contrast to Erin, who at last sighting looked like a heart attack waiting to happen. Phil’s probably relieved that Nick and Brian have to be Chris’s on-camera human shields for Squadron delays these days. Hard to believe back in early 2014 Phil and Wingman were talking about the first ten missions releasing by year end... And here we are 6 years later, thrust into the “still early days” and watching Interruption Tech demos with no gameplay in sight and release date unknown. (Hard to believe unless you’re Twerk, and then it’s easy, since he and his knew all along none of that guidance meant anything, and the longer things take and more money you throw at it the better it all always gets...) ronmcd posted:She's seen it all before, she's endlessly walking past seeing Mike slumped in the corner, head in hands, ranting at the game he *hates* but can't stop for some reason. Dude needs to listen to the woman instead of lecturing to her. He and Baron both got married after wasting years and thousands on the Roberts Family Retirement Fund. Life’s given them both the perfect opportunity and excuse to close the book on childish things and start new chapters. Play games you enjoy, save money for more important things, pick up new hobbies... Twerk’s followers are loyal enough, and surly enough at this point, and if he absolutely can’t let SC go yet, he might as well go full Heretic and really start holding Chris’s feet to the fire instead of just talking smack on bad days and then defending it all when others do it...
