i don't really get the virgil hate but iirc there were very awkward moments between him and the chapos when they were going down the epstein rabbit hole last winter. he's not really interested in that kind of thing or much foreign policy, seems sensible that he has set up this pod instead. plus he gets to help a friend out too, get her set up with a show and stuff. seems like a good compromise.

"I bet everyone is actually reasonable and sensible and have pretty good reasons for the things they are doing", buddy what is going on with you. what are you doing? when you sit down to write fanfiction about your favourite podcasters what even happens, do they talk about scheduling? where are the stakes? where's the DRAMA?

i had no real opinion on virgil until this, seemed fine but didn't really add a lot, just not a fan of obvious grifts that seek to exploit divisions in the left and it doesn't surprise me that the wonk guy would be the first one to exploit the chapo fan base in a cynical fashion, i've really only ever listened to chapo for matt and felix though personally and I think it's inevitable this stuff will happen because of all the money, status and power to influence that corrupts all over time, i hope matt's journey to ego death enures him from this fate
