For a long time I wondered why I had such fond memories of Spartakus and the Sun Beneath the Sea but then basically no memories of things like, you know, the plot, or those pirates. I eventually realized that Spartakus came on Nickelodeon just as I was finished eating breakfast in the morning, so I probably used to watch the intro for the awesome music and then run out the door to walk to school. And just made up what the show must have been like. Nice

way back in the mid-1990s, at the Discovery Channel Store in Mall of America, I remember seeing a prominent display of blind-box rings that cost upwards of a hundred dollars. The idea was that each ring was one of unique pair, and that the company never repeated a design for a pair. You'd get the ring and with it, have access to a website where you'd input a code. If anyone around the world got your ring's match, it would alert you on the site. Did I hallucinate this?

I remember reading a horror short story in an anthology probably some time in the late 90s, possibly Australian but most likely American or British in origin. A little girl is told by her parents to go to bed because they're having some friends/colleagues over for a dinner party. The little girl begrudgingly goes upstairs and talks with her not-so-imaginary friend, who i remember being a tall man. She wants to know what the adults get up to at a dinner party, so the man takes her "behind" the walls into a space where she can look into the rest of the house, but no-one else can see her. While there, she sees her parents the way they are actually interacting with their friends, as well as seeing them as monstrous caricatures revealing their inner thoughts and desires, tearing each other to pieces, lying from one mouth and speaking the truth through another, groping one another when they're secretly having an affair, that sort of thing. In the end the tall man asks the little girl if, now that she knows what grown-ups are like, she still wants to go back to the real world. The girl says no, and instead she and the tall man walk hand-in-hand away from the house to dimensions unknown. This has been driving me bananas for years now.

Old call from a tech support company I heard around 1999. It was a lady on the phone screaming at a supervisor because the prior tech had helped her boyfriend format her computer which erased her college thesis. I specifically remember here screaming “I WANT HIM DEAD!! NOWWWWWW!!!”. It was hilarious and I’d love to listen to it agin.

I remember several years ago there was a funny video about two guys (played by the same actor, I think?) playing piano, and they all looked so smug and showing off their piano playing to each other, only to have one character playing switch to another character playing, and they kept complimenting each other saying "Nice fake out." They played various video game tunes like Metroid and Sonic.

Crosspost from Trump LOL thread: I've been searching for a copy of "The Spirit and Purpose of the People of Praise," which is the 1971 handbook for the crazy cult Amy Coney Barrett belongs to. I am usually pretty good at tracking down obscure books in one form or another, but I cannot find this one anywhere. Even online references to it are rare. Not on Amazon or ebay either. Weird. I did find two issues of their newsletter, "Vine & Branches": https://fliphtml5.com/waov/cpst/basic http://online.fliphtml5.com/kfrj/vejl/#p=1 Anyway, if anyone happens to come across any more People of Praise texts, please share. Trying to find an old video game. This was circa 2000 or so, and it was a MTG style online card game set in a post apocalyptic/cyberpunk setting. You had cards belonging to a bunch of different factions like the former USA or some weird mutant monastery etc

I think there’s a thread in the book whatever for short stories but here goes: From a horror story analogy it’s a story told in either a time line from pictures or postcards (it must be pictures). It’s of an expedition to I want to say west of Turkey or near the Cacaus. Anyway as it continues to describe the pictures of the expedition it of course begins to go south. The end is a brief explanation of the circumstances and whatnot. Anyway that’s been driving me nuts for years and I’ve perused many books and never glimpsed it.

I just found this thread and haven't read through it so I have no idea if someone else has asked about this. Back in the early 2000s, maybe, I remember seeing a series of videos featuring incredibly realistic (for the time) CGI "ufos." They were not made by a professional company (I think), just some guy who edited them into existing video of people walking around and staying up at the sky There were either several videos or one or two videos with several different kinds of ships. I feel like they were supposed to be a kind of portfolio of the guy's CGI skills.

I'm not expecting anyone to be familiar with this because I was a weird rear end kid who spent my childhood reading every book about cryptids I could find, but this one has been in the back of my head forever. There was this book I borrowed from the library just one time that was a sort of monster encyclopedia possibly from the 80's or 70's and I remember it having big, full color pictures. Two have stuck with me forever: The first picture was a painting of a car with panicked teens staring out the window at mothman, who was flying low next to the car. I remember the mothman looked a lot like Arthur from The Tick. The other picture was of this hosed up looking monster that looked vaguely like the gremlin on the side of the bus from that one Treehouse of Horror episode, only human sized and with a really long tail with blades on the end. I remember it was a side shot of it sort of peering at people through some jungle trees next to a river. The story about it was that it was captured and put into a ship's hold but then it escaped into the jungle after the ship crashed or something like that and it talked about how violent the monster was. I really hope someone remembers this book because I really want to see it again.

I found another UFO video similar to the Haiti one. The first UFO is similar to what I remember. This one was done by a guy who did Hollywood effects, and apparently everything in the video is CGI, according to an article from the NY Daily News. They're still not exactly the one I am thinking of, but it's getting closer.
