The real fun of living wisely is that you get to be smug about it.

Dallas County has only barely broken the day one EV record from 2016 (59,809 vs 58,775, though admittedly Judge Jenkins says it may still climb a little further)

I'm curious as to how fast the numbers will go up. I'm sorta hoping that things will slow down so I can have an easier time voting later, but if things ramp up instead, it's probably better overall compared to people just waiting until election day proper and not being able to get all their votes in.

It's interesting to see the "Voting Democratic is Patriotic" signs contrast with the "Vote Republican to Quell Public Uprisings" signs with a black silhouette of an unruly crowd.

There are 122 early-voting locations in Harris County this election cycle, compared to 40 during the 2016 election; the difference from having Dems run your election for a change.

Voted in Galveston Co. this morning at a satellite early voting location and the line was only like 6 deep when I arrived. No line at all as I left so maybe check other polling locations if you're at a place where the line wraps around the block.

They probably did. Iirc Florida's work commission website was proven to be purposefully engineered to make claims harder to submit, so I can't think of a reason that couldn't be the explanation here.

I don't know what Florida's site was used for aside from getting unemployment claims, but Texas' website is also meant for people and employers to find/list jobs specifically within Texas, everything from janitorial to consulting, white collar jobs, etc. Like a Texas-oriented Glassdoor or something. The predecessor website, while a bit rudimentary, was much easier to use. Just awful.

#1 of course, he's in the Senate and knows that this is an old photo since he sees these guys regularly;
#2 In general he's a US Senator, if he doesn't know he shouldn't post (or at least get a staffer to verify first).

This is just a stupid unforced error that might have real (albeit minor) consequences if he wasn't running against an absolute zero.

No good deed goes unpunished

Is there any benefit to voting on the first day? Some of my friends were posting on social media about having waited 5 hours or so. When I did early voting, I used to wait a few days at the minimum before going in.

I sent in my mail in ballots this year, due to the pandemic. I wish they'd make this option available for everyone. I can't say enough how amazing it is to be able to google each candidate before making my pick. I know I can always do that beforehand and bring in a list, but there's something nice about being able to do it from home. I do wish they'd include a I voted sticker with the ballots, but I understand why they wouldn't prioritize that.

The earlier your name gets on the "has voted" list, the quicker you get taken off all the phone calls and texts to vote.
