That's pretty cool, but it looks weird. It feels like a Roger Rabbit blending of reality and cartoon, but since "reality" is also cartoon it's weird. Like he doesn't belong there.

The first one had a cel shaded 60s cartoon suit that both looked really awesome and didn't really fit in with the rest of the game graphics. Assuming it works like the first game you can always just not use it if it looks too weird.

I'm just now getting around to PS4 Spidey and I am loving this game. I'll be honest in that it has been a long while since I have played an open world, mission based game and there's points where my hands cramp up playing this. But you can tell the developers really had some appreciation for Spidey, both his past in video games and comic book history. The drawing from a child because you retrieved their balloon, the locket with pictures of Peter's parents. And similar to the old SM2 movie game, part of the fun is just finding backpacks, fixing the towers, and catching random bad guys. The heavy pro-police plot of the game though, especially when Spidey himself has often been framed and shot at by police, is...uh...yeah, that part of the game definitely sticks out in today's world.

The game makes explicit that a good chunk of the cops were corrupt. ACAB and all but Watanabe is one member of the crew of "good ones" that Spider-Man has worked with throughout his comics history. And even those good ones sometimes go rogue or betray him or both.

The sequel sidesteps it by entirely ignoring the cops, but yeah, the first game can get super awkward with the cop stuff.

Watanabe wasn't really much of a supporting character in the comics before showing up as Wraith, she was introduced in ASM 600 and became Wraith in ASM 639, which was only 2 years later. Her main relationship with Spider-man was being Carlie Cooper's co-worker. It's pretty obvious the game awkwardly crams her into the Jean Dewolff slot, which I guess makes sense since she pretended to be her ghost one time (???).
