FMguru posted:IIRC, one of the big showrunner types on the Simpsons/Futurama was a huge math nerd and he'd put some fairly high-level math jokes into the mix when he could (like the "P=NP" equation floating in the 3D Homer halloween episode). It was David X. Cohen (BA in math from Harvard) that pushed hard for secret mathy stuff on the Simpsons, and it was Ken Keeler (PhD in applied math from Harvard) that published the Prisoner of Benda proof. And just for funsies, show-runners Al Jean and Mike Riess also went to Harvard for Maths. Bunch of gat-dang nerds. The famous floating equation in the Homer^3 (also Wizard of Evergreen Terrace) is a near-miss solution to Fermat's Last Theorem stating that while A^2 + B^2 = C^2 has infinitely many solutions, there are NO integer solutions for A^n + B^n = C^n for n > 2. Cohen knew he could put that trick up there because if you check 1782^12 + 1841^12 = 1922^12 in a regular computer, it will tell you that it is true; but that is because it cannot handle such large numbers and it truncates the numbers, and it just so happens that the rounded numbers ~happen~ to work. Cohen certainly knew why this was and threw it in there to troll audiences. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ReOQ300AcSU

Since Photoshop was released for iOS I’ve been using an iPad with an apple pencil to do a lot of my OC shitposts and it’s been a game changer.

Okay first off this is incredible. This is basically the same joke but I had to pull it back a bit for my own sanity.
