But there's a fifteen year age gap there and populations generally get more conservative as they get older. In other words, this idea that conservatism is the natural evolution of anyone who grows old enough to get "wise" or whatever is a bourgeois myth caused by bad statistics that don't properly control for confounding variables. Go ask a 90 year old great-grandma who lives in a rented apartment with three generations of her progeny whether she's conservative. (oh wait, you can't, she died of preventable causes because she didn't have health insurance  )

It happens in other countries (like the UK) but studies show it hasnt been happening in the US for anybody born since the 70's basically. This corresponds roughly with the point where American capitalism decided it was done having anything to offer new generations. Millenials hold about 4% of the wealth of the nation, at the same age, the boomers held over 20%. Conservatism is about protecting/maintaining the status quo. Why would people want to maintain a status quo that offers them nothing?

There's a specific subset of Millennials who were young and lefty and idealistic when the Iraq War started and Bush got re-elected and those people got their hopes and dreams ground into dust. They were just a little too old and jaded to buy into the Obama idealism of 2008. They're also the ones who were just starting out their careers during the Great Recession. They're also the ones raising young kids during the era of Trump and Covid. I call this the "Completely hosed Generation"
