You really need to evacuate the atmosphere from your listening room or you'll get all kinds of noise from the air molecules bumping the conductors.

Now I'm picturing some ultra rich dude building a sealed chamber in which he tests various gasses impact on sound. Imagine how much cred he'd get in audiophile circles with reviews of pure nitrogen vs mix with CO2 impact on warmth and range. And once few others

Refusing to get the radon leak in your basement fixed because it enriches the soundstage.

Transfer Groove! I could use it to skip a long scratchy section! And I could cut it cleanly, not with a key! This is awesome!

I have an Explosions In The Sky record where there's something in the lead-out that throws the needle back into the last 10 seconds of the last track. At first I was like "oh, that's a neat trick" then I realized it's probably just a mistake and it's probably loving up the vinyl and my needle.

The amount of money some people will dump into making a format with 60db of dynamic range sound better is personally pretty hilarious.

I'm all for vinyl as a medium and an experience (and indeed own turntables and vinyl myself) but throwing money at the format and defending it as the purest form of listening seems to be a certain type of insanity that I'll never truly understand.

Yeah I don't hate vinyl and I still own around 200 records but it's always been funny to me that some of the most insane systems from a cost and effort standpoint were done to make one of the worst formats sound as good as possible. I think about Henry Rollins and his quarter million dollar Wilson/McIntosh system he uses to listen to punk 7" that were largely mastered on cassette 4 track recorders.

Had an engineer tell me with a straight face that CD quality (16bit/44.1kHz) music is very audibly worse than 32-bit vinyl FLAC rips. Nice long chat with that bloke about the limitations of humans and him being a loving idiot. I mean if you're looking for a less overcompressed sound specifically from tracks mastered in the loudness era ok whatever but like...
