A fun fact about Pumpkins is that they, squash, and gourds evolved to be eaten by megafauna which had begun to go extinct at the end of the last ice age, and it was dumb luck that humans came along and cultivated them at the time they did before the whole genus (cucurbita) went extinct because there were no longer giant sloths and gomphotheres to spread their seeds. Gomphotheres looked kind of like an elephant with an underbite:

What’s up with like every animal having a duck billed version? Was god going through a “shovel-face” phase?

Many forms of gourds have small versions, but the weird thing is that they're spread all over the planet by humans and still can interbreed despite being wildly different. Like a pie pumpkin, loofah, and drinking gourd are pretty much the same

Maybe there is. Maybe it's six days before halloween and we need to spread the urban legend of... Theri The Stealer-Sloth. He comes to your house and you just disappear. "Oh hey, look a slo..."

We just found a book full of old German/Danish/Icelandic bonds and money from the early 1900s-1950s. While the German and Danish stuff all had angry eagles and old men in funny hats the Icelandic money all had chill landscapes printed on them. e: German stuff for comparison: Ornamental Dingbat fucked around with this message at 00:19 on Oct 27, 2020 |
