also, regarding snuff films in particular, i feel like the other thing to keep in mind is, like... if you're that level of rich, and you get off on murder, you can just go murder somebody and there is a near certainty that you will get away with it. a snuff film would honestly probably seem kinda quaint to the people we're discussing, for the simple reason that it's not showing them anything they can't just do. if snuff films existed, the primary audience would be people who can't just trivially get away with murdering a random person, meaning they would most likely not be restricted to the uber-rich.

I'm still thinking about the Strokes and I might have to loop in some predatory behavior in the emo scene that directly followed after them, if there's anything to be found there at all.
