Watching Dan blind LP is like a movie where everyone who has played before is sitting on the edge of their chairs saying, "Noooo, don't go investigate the noises in the basement!" and then Dan decides to go investigate the noises, drunk, by himself, but still somehow manages to find a way to survive it.

I've never played this game, so maybe it got nerfed compared to my fond memories in XCOM:EW, but Close Combat Specialist was absolutely the best power in that game. You could just give into the center of a group and blow them all away as they tried to scatter. It's honestly the one power I wouldn't say makes Untouchable a no-brainer.

IIRC, the nerf from EW is that, instead of triggering on any enemy movement within ~3 tiles, CCS in Chimera Squad only triggers on enemies that move or attack directly adjacent to Godmother. E: CS also doesn't have the pod movement mechanic from earlier games, so you can't abuse that for Bladestorm/CCS/Lockdown shenanigans. CCS is a good power, but I personally put a huge premium on being able to "nope" enemy attacks on a character as aggressive as Godmother when interleaved turns mean you can't necessarily use your sharpshooter to pick off aliens on the flanks. Yeah in practice it's basically Bladestorm but with a shotgun I'll be honest there are very few perks I'd consider over that

Expecting Danaru to pick anything else when 'More Murder' is on the table hasn't been paying attention. Jane may be sitting in an office now, but her spirit of extreme and excessive violence lives on.

Yay, you got Zephyr's key ability: nope-ing the next attack. Makes face-punching much safer! Demolition is like Ventilate: it auto-hits and destroys any destructible cover. Unlike Ventilate, it doesn't do damage. If the AI was smart, it would use it against your agents who are taking cover behind explosive/acid/gaseous barrels, like you did to that Hitman the earlier encounter. Fortunately, the AI is not smart, and uses it against agents irrespective of whether their cover is actually destructible. Crane Fist posted:All of the voices are really good but Zephyr is definitely the funniest one, it's such an incongruous choice of accent Shelter's thirst for Zephyr is hilarious though. Shelter & Zephyr is definitely one of the funniest team ups, got a lot of time for Terminal & Verge as well. The team dialogue is absolutely one of the best parts of the game

Yeah there's a purple time reduction mission that's like 'Rescue Local DJ' where he's managed to piss off Sacred Coil so bad they send like 100 guys to kill him, and when you get to the end and find out who you're rescuing the team so like "uugh do we have to"

Random dude's face painting in the middle of an office is a treat. "Who's this guy? Why do we have a painting of him in with the Shen and Tygan paintings?" "Eh, idk, but we need more paintings for our laboratory!" "Do we really? We don't even have enough wall space for it, and it looks terrible!" "YES! MORE PAINTINGS! STACK IT ON A TABLE! WE DON'T NEED TABLE SPACE!" And then Patchwork shot it to pieces vov RIP dude painting, you were a great throwaway destructible art asset.

New Episode! Let's Play XCOM Chimera Squad Episode 17 - The One Where Grace's Coworkers Cant Function Without Him Okay these last couple weeks have been kicking my rear end, over the next few days I'm going to try to post a bunch of these way sooner because we have like an entire other session in the backlog and we recorded it a while back god dammit Also fun fact: since this episode, Grace moved to a different location at his job, and his old location is now in a complete collapse up to the point that the guy in charge is being run out of the company because there are LITERALLY zero functioning employees now that Grace is gone. So clearly, Cherub's secondary job is to lull enemies into a false sense of security, before a shotgun erases them from existence.

I'm surprised Dan didn't take lockdown on Zephyr, because punching someone and then punching them again when they try to do anything seems right up his alley. Although for his liver's sake, unconscious enemies are better. Also, the enemies seem to have weirdly low health: I didn't think Zephyr could one-shot people during the second investigation. Maybe I'm just remembering the endgame more.
