The Bjelke-Peterson government traumatised the gently caress out of the greater Brisbane area in the 70s and 80s and as a result the most densely populated region in QLD is hesitant to vote LNP at the state level. Federal politics doesn't have the same dynamic.

There is still a weirdly large proponent of folks who like to vote for a different party in the state than is in power federally. Back when I did opinion polls, I never quite understood that one.

This too although the lingering stink of the LNP on rurall areas has been dissapting and going to independents and KAP/ONP since Newman, people really didn't like how quickly he threw the term mandate around. Presumably the unicameral thing makes voters behave differently too. Jezza of OZPOS fucked around with this message at 11:46 on Oct 31, 2020 |

LNP gain nothing. ONP implodes. UAP fails on every level. This was a good result.

The Harvey Bay region swung hard to Labor and inner city Brisbane swung to the Greens. Nobody in the greater Brisbane region wanted to risk an LNP government when there's a pandemic on.

expect it to all shake out with the greens having two seats and labor having 49. I guess it's possible the greens will get one more but I'm not holding my breath. Still a great result.

Clive paying mining royalties to Queenslanders the long way round. But it was fun thinking about how many people voted for one of his candidates who was called Phil Collins for the wrong reason.
