I haven't listened to Live In Toronto in a while. Might have to change that today. Love me some live Poop Ship.

I wish more live stuff was available on Spotify. The 96 Country Tour Sampler is so good, along with Live at the Orpheum, 2003.

Two of my fav non-commercially recorded shows are 11/07/1999 Somerville MA, and 10/03/2003 Vancouver BC. Both are soundboards

Ween were always good about taping, you can find a good deal of 'em on Youtube, archive.org and browntracker, all free.

There is only a handful of soundboards though. Deaner has them all, as well as video I believe for a lot of shows. I'll never understand why they don't have a fan site where you could buy them. Especially because of how broke he says he is ( often ebaying off his stuff, and now doing cameos)

Yeah Phish has a monthly subscription service for access to pretty much their whole soundboard archive id gladly pay for something similar but with Ween

Wwhat is the story here? i mean, it was probably inevitable that he would relapse (even just statistically) but has there been any public drama?

I was looking for old shows I've been to, and Deaner uploaded a soundboard of the Red Rocks show from 2006, with the video they used for the screens in the venue. Pretty great show, Flaming Lips opened.

The 1996 Country Tour Sampler. In my opinion the best of their live material, played with the poo poo Creek Boys. Playlist link below. I have seen the show as a download file elsewhere but I'll leave you to find it if you want.

https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLCFkKHx7uMC9vXkFLNuIa1A65BjP4IIMR

The highlights for me:

A cosmic version of You Were the Fool
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xJGyNPrUSPI

Big Jilm, which for some reason really reminds me of the Boredoms/Ween track The Meadow. I guess it's the opening melody.

I wonder why they haven't put out a live album of any of the material since 2016. Back when Deaner was active in the big Ween group on facebook he made some noise about having all the soundboards and wanting to do something with them, but then of course nothing happened. I know there's hardly any money in anything other than touring these days but it seems like a fancy vinyl set or something might be able to turn a profit.

opening with "what deaner was talking about" was really sweet. then watching them jam together and the confetti flying during "roses are free" was magical to witness. especially because i ate a bunch of edibles before the show.

yeah I always thought this was the plan, the fact that it hasn't happened tells me that all is not well between the Weens yet

iirc in 2018 or so there was some really weird and public drama that suddenly got deleted off social media? did Gene relapse or something? idk it's weird that he hasn't done anything since that first solo album and I get the sense that Ween reforming was really more of a "we need to pay the bills and Ween gets 50x the crowds we do on our own" thing

That was Deaner stuff, which led to him going into rehab. As far as I know they're still both sober, though quarantine can and will gently caress everybody up.
