Local guy said it was contact tracing again, but I believe this does mean he can't play this week even if he stays negative? e: 5 day isolation from when he was exposed apparently, well 'isolation' since he was at practice today. https://twitter.com/bylindsayhjones/status/1324468007192551424

It used to be 15 solid minutes at once, the CDC updated their rules to 15 total minutes in a day but I don't know if the NFL has bothered to change their rules or not.

The entire 49ers offense is injured and half of their defense is out and I'm still confident that Kyle Shanahan is going to humiliate the Packers on national television yet again tonight.

If anyone would like to keep track of 49ers injuries. Jaquiski Tartt (foot) K'Waun Williams (ankle) Both starters (safety and nickel corner) Both likely out at least week 10

I can’t recall a team that’s lost as much talent to injury/sickness as the 49ers, it’s like the injury fairy took a look at a list of players’ salaries and, taking a marker and drawing a line at 5m, just circling every name above it.

https://twitter.com/AlbertBreer/status/1324469606631833611 He was cleared to play off the COVID-19 list last week before the botched IV took him out before the game. I don't know if he'd technically be contagious or not but I imagine it's complicated and the NFL's COVID guidelines are probably too shortsighted to take stuff like that into account. I'm surprised the 5 day quarantine period for close contacts hasn't bit them in the rear end yet. They should challenge the penalty cause inadequate rules, like allowing face shield only usage by play calling coaches . fartknocker posted:Oh no, a sixth round pick in a draft that picks will be devalued in! Them using isolation for someone who isn’t positive/symptomatic is annoying, semantically. According to CDC definitions, if you’re a close contact staying home because you’re waiting to see if the disease develops, then that’s quarantine, not isolation. Isolation is the term for those who have the disease and are staying home to prevent further spread. So since Chris Jones was around someone who tested positive but doesn’t himself have the disease, he should be quarantining for 5 days (by the NFL’s “high risk close contact” protocol) to see if it develops. As long as he hasn’t tested positive and is not symptomatic, people who were in contact with Chris Jones don’t need to quarantine since they haven’t been exposed to the disease. Obviously if he does later test positive or develop symptoms that would change, but contacts of contacts don’t have to do anything other than keep the usual mask/distancing protocol and watch for symptoms. It's a small thing but I would really like it if they'd stop saying 'false positive' and start saying 'presumed positive' and use 'confirmed positive' for repeat positive tests.

The Pac-12 just straight up canceled the game between UW and Cal because of one positive COVID test on the Bears. I can't believe the NCAA is taking these precautions way more seriously than the NFL.

As bad as it's been the NFL has been better than college football as a whole about this. The SEC only cancels a game when there are under 55 scholarship players available or something like that out of 85? Which has happened, with mini-outbreaks every week that don't quite get to cancelling games territory. This particular game cancellation is Pac-12 specific, and I question whether it is actually one test that made it happen given everything else.
