He was even capable of saying he'd been wrong about things and that other people might know what they were doing, he even had some respect for women (or at least one woman her had worked with, judging by the way he described the origin of one of his comic characters). Then somewhere around 2000 his brain just broke irretrievably. You can't even say it was 9/11 because he'd been getting a bit weird before that.

I grew up in Gwinnett. It was a vast white suburban hellscape where my friends and I were fed a steady media diet of Foxnews and Rush Limbaugh and Neal Boortz because that's what all our parents listened to. It was already becoming very diverse though, and my town had a huge Korean population. So at least I got to get incredible Korean BBQ. One of my first teenage jobs was at the Sears in Gwinnett mall (now a Stranger Things set) and I regularly got cussed at by customers when Spanish in store announcements played. To the extent I still speak with my family in Georgia they all lament how Gwinnett has gone down hill compared to the 90s / oughts. Of course what they actually mean is that there are too many Koreans and Hispanics.
