Cool that trump lost and all but yesterday my wife’s cousin died of Covid. He got it and within 2 weeks he was dead at only 35. He lived in Dominican Republic and we think the care just wasn’t there because he had a bed in the hallway. His wife is a nurse at that hospital and wasn’t allowed to see him. There’s still months before anything will begin to happen for the better and more people are going to die and it loving sucks rear end

gently caress Donald trump I hope this loving sack of boiled cabbbage is experiencing such extreme distress that it kills him (stroke heart attack aneurism whatever just go you fat gently caress)

Also gently caress Donald trumps family

gently caress you Mitch McConnell I hope your skin falls off

What do you think the world would look like if the US had a competent pandemic response?

Trump obvs stands out as a particularly dangerous fuckup but many countries are struggling similarly. It's been really hard to get people to take this seriously ("just a flu") before poo poo has well and truly hit the fan in their immediate neighborhood, and lots of places are just finding lockdown measures difficult to sustain economically. Couple of the low-income countries I interact with for work had to lift lockdowns because they would've faced hunger riots otherwise.

A competent covid response probably wouldn’t even be noticed by most people. SARS is just a word to me. It has no impact. And a competent US pandemic response wouldn’t begin in the US.

Because trump is personally responsible for people not wearing masks, opening things too quickly, not reacting quickly or at all and like it or not lots of places followed his lead or were just swept up in the resulting chaos so yeah gently caress trump

SARS wasn't anywhere near as widespread or contagious. Swine flu was probably the most comparable to right now in terms of spread in recent memory, because that poo poo did get around in the states. It just wasn't near as deadly.

Uhh, SARS wasn’t as widespread maybe but I’m pretty sure it was “really contagious”.

I may be remembering incorrectly, but I think SARS was less widespread because asymptomatic infection was far, far lower, symptoms when present were more severe, and they showed up more quickly so there wasn't a long asymptomatic contagious period.

Thanks, Stults, yeah that's mostly what I was getting at. Same problem with MERS. Both were deadly as gently caress compared to this roll of the dice virus, but they didn't have the reach because of incubation times and poo poo.

It reads like a massive failure in the internal anti-terrorist apparatus of Austria. Dude was a known entity with a prison record from trying to travel to Syria to join ISIS. Warnings of him trying to buy ammo in Slovakia and possibly meeting with others being watched by Germany.

American war casualties returning to Dover AFB from Iraq in 2004. Photo by the U.S. Air Force.

This photo and 361 others have been released by the Air Force due to a Freedom of Information Act request from The Memory Hole, and can also be found at this site. Initially, the request was denied, but were released after an appeal by The Memory Hole. Shortly after the release of the photos, the Pentagon barred any further releases of photos to the media. According to Dover AFB spokesman Col Jon Anderson: "They’re not happy with the release of the photos".

This request was made after a civilian contractor, Ms. Silico, working for Maytag Aircraft Corporation, took a similar unauthorized photo and released it to the media. She was subsequently fired from her job, as was her husband.
