There was a ton of dreck that came out on Netflix but that's really just shooting fish in a barrel and doesn't really count. Them doing Pottersville is one of their best episodes, though.

edit: also wasn't ready for the amount of salt they had for the last madalorian episode. I liked it quite a lot!

The new Craft movie, Unhinged, The War with Grandpa, The New Mutants, Bloodshot, Dolittle, Fantasy Island, and Brahms: The Boy 2, all came out in 2020.

There are a lot of movies, just not big theatrical ones.

Yeah like The Kissing Booth 2 is honestly one of my favorite bad movies just for all the weird choices and obvious first-draftness of it all but I don’t think it’d make a very good episode of the show!

Also I agreed with either Eric or Steve there at the end that the main problem with the episode was that the episodes were a little similar back-to-back. If we’d gotten a little overarching plot stuff in episode 2 and then had this episode it’d have gone over better with me

I forgot all about Dolittle, and I'm pretty sure what I heard about it, it's a shoe-in for one of the worst of the year.

It is kinda interesting though that the only time there were movies "as normal" was in that dead zone where most of the garbage gets dumped.

I thought Sonic was generally well received? For a video game movie at least. I didn't see it.

Other than that, jesus, I forgot about all the rest of that. This year has been crazy, I forgot it also unleashed Dolittle on the world.

I think they've said in the past they've often do schlock even if it's pretty good if they think it'll make a good episode.

They really need to do Scoob! though. It's insane.

If No Time to Die actually ever comes out, a Bond month might be a fun theme. They've already done Never Say Never Again, Die Another Day, and Goldeneye as a WLM, so I could easily see something like:

Diamonds Are Forever (Connery is checked out of the role more than any other actor has ever been)
Live and Let Die (Bond does blaxploitation, it's got some good chases but it's real weird)
Moonraker (The big bad chews scenery with the best of them and Bond goes to space)
Casino Royale (for WLM)
Quantum of Solace (I kind of think this is a WLM too, but other people really loving hate it)

If they do this, I'd love to see them go after a sacred cow Bond movie. Like how Thunderball is way more boring than anyone remembers. Or how Goldfinger is way more rapey than anyone remembers. (No, I'm not talking about how Bond always sleeps with the girls and then they die. I mean he straight up rapes Pussy Galore in a barn while she tries to fight him off. It's baaaad.)

But they tend to not do any movies that are actually that old, so I doubt that would happen. Probably because they wouldn't generate as much traffic, which I get.

The original Casino Royale with Peter Sellers would be fun, but they'd have to get high as gently caress first.

TV history time!

ABC made a Fantasy Island revival series in 1998 and it was good and had a killer cast: Malcolm McDowell, Mädchen Amick, Louis Lombardi, Fyvush Finkel, and Sylvia Sidney. It aired on Saturdays for 13 weeks before being canceled.

Other contenders include The Murder of Nicole Brown Simpson and Antebellum but they might be too much of a can of worms.

My personal list for maximum entertainment would be Dolittle, Artemis Fowl, Scoob!, New Mutants, and Fantasy Island.

Yeah, Antebellum is loving terrible, and is just massively problematic, but I'm not sure how much a comedy podcast can mine for material. Articles have been written about why the concept itself is just a terrible idea, but I don't see them wanting to make a bunch of funny funny jokes about Confederates owning slaves, one of which (massive spoiler) used to be a modern day civil rights activist until she was kidnapped and taken to a re-enactment camp, because yeah, it's The Village, but for white supremacists. I...don't see a lot of material for jokes there, beyond, "What the gently caress, movie?!"

That being said, I know Stephen at least posted on Twitter about how much he loving haaaated it, so who knows.

edit: That being said, if they do decide to do Antebellum, they should have Angelica Jade Bastién on as a guest, because she wrote one of those articles I mentioned.

The New Mutants should definitely be on their worst of 2020 list next year. I don’t even think it was that bad, but there’s so much and so little going on in that movie. At least an honorable mention for even managing to come out in some form.

I will say this, one approach the WHM people use pretty often is mining jokes out of their extreme "gently caress this movie" reactions moreso than the actual movie itself. Blame It On Rio wasn't really about how hilarious it is when old men prey on little girls, it was more about their incredibly disgusted reactions to it being funny. I could see that approach going OK.

I think they would be right to avoid this movie in these, shall we say, tense times unless they get a good minority guest to kinda guide the tone along, but yea I agree when they do genuinely terrible poo poo like Blame It On Rio they are good about the jokes sticking to 'OH MY GOD WHO THOUGHT THIS WAS OKAY?!' and not 'ha ha get it, the old man's sexually manipulating a young girl, owned much, child like female character???'
